On August 5, Russia’s Okhotnik (Hunter) heavy unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) performed its first flight.

The flight lasted for over 20 minutes. The UCAV flown by the operator made several circles around the airfield at an altitude of 600 meters and then successfully landed.

stupid is as stupid does

Power plant will be the same one SU-57 is using.
The “izdelye 30” – super cruise “2nd. stage” 5th generation engine.
Super cruise is essential in stealth performance “low IR signature” and in augmenting the range of the UAV.

occupybacon

This is the decoy for the less invisible SU-57, it will walk in front of it to take the first hit.

Wolfgang Wolf

not only decoy, but even capable of hitting other planes, not only ground targets

occupybacon

Any drone can do that, but this looks like made especially for the Su-57

Bob

That is entirely your speculation without any basis in evidence or stated fact.

occupybacon

Since Su-57 is not that stealthy it needs some kind of guide dog so it can turn 180° when the dog disappears

Bob

Where is this stated as a Russian tactical doctrine?
Do you have any Russian military sources or statements on topic?
Nope – you are just (negatively) speculating.
It is a heavy drone – capable of dropping heavy ordnance without disturbing the balance, or flight characteristics of the air frame, as occurs with all lighter drones.

occupybacon

‘for dropping heavy ordnance without disturbing the balance’ *now it’s the moment when you drop the mic*

Bob

Err, that would be a crappy attempt at diversion – now, where is your evidence or source of information for all your previous claims?

occupybacon

I don’t have a prove, just free speculation as you said but why it’s so anti-Russian from your point of view? and what did you mean with this verse “without disturbing the balance”?

Bob

Again, what are the sources for your claims this drone is a tactical unit for the Sukhoi? You have none? What a surprise. Again, your remarks are entirely (negatively) speculative without any sources or substance.

occupybacon

That’s the trend, Americans have them too.

Simon Bernstein

It’s funny how russkies think this drone or the su57 are stealth. they are not even near stealth. the F-18 Super hornet 4.5 gen has a radar cross section of 0.5 m^2, even smaller than the radar cross section of the su57 which is 1 m^2 – the same size of a regular F-18

Jose

Who told you about the radar cross section of the su57 ?

Simon Bernstein

it’s on wikipedia

Jose

In Wikipedia? OK, so it’s all said …

Toronto Tonto

stupid

No one knows what the RCS is of the Su-57. The number you use come from a Sukhoi patent application that stated “the intention is to reduce the RCS to an average value of no more than 0.1 to 1 m^2”. It was filed before any refinement of the design was done and before any measurements were made of the aircraft. The patent further deals with the approach they would take to reduce the RCS and those methods are common to those used on the F-35 and F-22, which is why the document is not classified and openly available from Russia’s Federal Service for Intellectual Property.

A single “average” RCS number is a useless value when the detail of how it was calculated is not available. You can’t compare it with another average RCS unless they were calculated using exactly the same methodology, and even then the value of such a comparison is debatable, since it doesn’t capture any of the directional or frequency sensitive characteristics specific to a given radar target. In fact, the average value isn’t even used in radar performance simulations – it only seems to be of use to marketers, journalists and people who post in news comment sections. Engineers use various forms of RCS diagrams that characterise the return over small increments of relative aspects. Furthermore, those diagrams (or rather their digital equivalents) are specific to the frequencies and bands of the radar. A single average number is useless, even if it was calculated from actual measurements, which the number that you post here on the Su-57 is not. It was simply an approximate goal stated in a non-classified document with no detail even on how that average would be determined.

Actual measurements as done in an anechoic chamber or reflectivity range would be classified and definitely would not be published. The same goes for the F-35, B-2, F117 and F-22. The numbers that journalists and people like you play with are meaningless when it comes to real life radar performance.

AM Hants

Thanks for an interesting and informative comment.

Gary Sellars

The oft-quoted 0.00001 sq.m (or whatever the fuck they claim) is likely based on some optimal test, ie a radar located in the sweet-spot directly in front where the stealth shaping is optimum, and at that precise frequency that results in the lowest return (eg RAM sweet-spot). The claimed RCS reduction isn’t all aspect, isn’t across teh full operating spectrum of opponents radars, and isn’t representative of the real-world combat performance.

Its typical fan-boi idiocy but these dickheads are just too stupid to know any better.

AM Hants

Funny, how the US are so focused on stealth, yet, the only ones that cannot see the stealth US ships, are the fishermen and merchant shipping. Russia and China, have no problems, viewing stealth aircrafts and ships, that the US send their way. Well, when the US stuff actually works.

Russian Radar Can Still See The $4.4 Billion Invisible Zumwalt… https://www.fort-russ.com/2016/09/russian-radar-can-still-see-44-billion/

Bob

Russian’s don’t actually claim them as stealth, dimwit. The Russian design agencies don’t radically prioritize concept of stealth over all other concerns in the aviation design brief. Concept of lowering radar visibility is certainly incorporated – but not the singular or fundamental design brief – as that radical prioritization approach deeply compromises the design’s capacities in other traditional aviation functions and capacities.

Rhodium 10

Meanwhile the US RQ 170 sentinel ( stealth drone) was invisible….but “suddenly” landed in an Iranian base…..

occupybacon

Iran has advanced drone technology, it’s a pity Russia don’t want to sell them the SU’s Iran are asking for 10 years, just because Uncle Sam said so :)

AM Hants

Russia sold them the S-300, but, Iran, has it’s own technology, as wonderfully displayed by Russia using the wicker baskets, to shut down the USS Donald Cook and not forgetting the same technology was used to shut down the aircraft carrier, USS Theodore Roosevelt.

Iran, have their own version of the S-400, which they are more than happy with.

Rhodium 10

Russia send to Iran advance EWS system to Jam the RQ 170 and also the Global hawk( to enable to shot down)…

occupybacon

And your point is?

Rhodium 10

My point is that US Drones are shit.

occupybacon

How about the Russian ones?

Rhodium 10

Russian Orion Drone are doing a good Job in Northwest Hama..

occupybacon
Rhodium 10

No because you need an special laser finger to guide Krasnopol artillery 152mm in order to smash US backed terrorist heads!

occupybacon

But I like TOS more

Human kind is doomed

Not just because of that, actually i don’t think uncle sam has anything to do with that.
Russia (USSR) and Iran don’t like each other for a long time.
That is wrong presumption about big bad Russia and big bad Iran being great allies because they are not.
Even thou they share huge Kaspian lake (sea) they don’t have developed sea trafic and infrastructure.
Remember start of Syria campaign and Ru/Ir deal on using Iran’s air base that was very quickly revoked?

occupybacon

Yeah because Iran doesn’t want Russian bases on their sole, they were already invaded by Russia few times before. Also some anti-American enthusiasts wnat to believe that Russia and China are now BFF which is not true at all.

Human kind is doomed

Russia and China will be BFFs but not because of love but because of interest.
One thing that probably sound crazy is that biggest Ru agenda in future might be is to make peace between China and India.
Russia needs big markets, and therefore peace. China and India are almost third of whole world.
1+1=2
There is only one side that is so scared of that scenario…

occupybacon

Russia need big markets for what? Oil and natural gas? They are already exporting it. Top 10 of their exports are brute products not finite, Rather China needs a new market so sell its finite products. And when they will capture Russian economy they will try to take over Siberia.

Human kind is doomed

China needs energy, India too.

Apart of oil and gas Russia is producing wast amount of food.

Good luck to anyone who tries to attack Russia!

occupybacon

You don’t see the difference between real war and economic ear, Russia will lose the second against USA or China. Or both.

Human kind is doomed

Yeah, right…

stupid is as stupid does

Russia is about to produce “wast amount of food”.
Even though they are world top exporter of wheat. They are not yet world top exporter of food in general.
But they are about to become since they have blockade that helps their agriculture and since they have huge customer China.
China can swallow all the food Russia can throw at them.
And Russia has huge potential in producing food.

stupid is as stupid does

Russia and China are complementary countries.
Their needs and export potentials perfectly match.
Russia offers energy, water, food, timber and endless resources. China “workshop of the world” offers endless industrial products and hunger for everything Russia can offer.

Gary Sellars

“Our destiny is to rule over the inferior races”?

Their destiny is to be eliminated. They will be naturally de-selected by the Universe as an evolutuonary mistake.

Zionism = EVIL

Wonder how long the dumbass Americunts will keep on supplying their “most advanced” UAV to Iran indirectly (being shot down) ? This is the cheapest tech transfer to both Iran and Russia :)

AM Hants

Do you remember the ‘newbie’ cruise missile, that the US also provided to Russia? When it fell in Syria, completely intact, following Trump ‘firework display’, with a little help from the UK (whose submarine was cornered by the Russians and unable to unleash her arsenal) and also the French?

The US are so generous with ‘tech transfers’, by the look of it.

occupybacon

Remember how half of the Russian Aircraft were lost in Syria because of technical problems and unrelated to enemy fire? And how part of those missiles flew right over Latakia? And how Israel bombs targets in Latakia just few Km’s away from Russian bases? Or how Putin gave Syrians those S-300 missiles that proven worthless? And How many times Jihadis bombed the Russian base in Latakia? I could continue forever but where did you get that info that a UK and French subs were ‘cornered’ by Russia and couldn’t unleash their arsenal? Cuz it smells like little Russian bulshit

AM Hants

Are you mistaking Russia for the cruise missiles that went AWOL or landed, impotent, leaving minimal damage to the Syrian airport? Shown, by Syrian jets flying from the same airport, just a couple of hours later.

occupybacon

No, I’m mistaking Russia for a country that has guts to tell others not to bomb near their bases, in Latakia

Ринат =)

Russian air force aircraft were not there. Was the Syrian air force planes. More precisely formulate your point of view. The destroyed planes are old MiG 25, MiG 23 and so on, which were delivered to Syria during the Soviet era. Russia lost su 24 because of Turkey, su 25 during the bombing. More cases of losses of Russian air force aircraft are not recorded.

occupybacon

Either the Russian loses are not reported on your country or you are retarded.
http://www.pravdareport.com/world/141651-russia_syria/ (this report doesn’t include the 2 airplanes lost in the sea by Admiral Kuznetsov)

occupybacon

I will keep your screenshot as prove that Putin hides their losses in Syria to its citizens.

Either the Russian loses are not reported on your country or you are retarded.
http://www.pravdareport.com/world/141651-russia_syria/

this Pravda report doesn’t include the 2 airplanes lost in the sea by Admiral Kuznetsov, see them here:

https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/navy-ships/a24155/kuznetsov-second-crash-in-three-weeks/

Also 6 deaths of Russian pilots in non-hostile crashes here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Armed_Forces_casualties_in_Syria.

Ринат =)

1. I spoke specifically about the losses of combat aircraft. I did not take into account human losses.
2. Su 33 is not involved in the Syrian company. Russia has flown to Syria – Su24, Su25, Su30, Su 35, Su 34. The total number of aircraft is not as huge as you think. Basically there were 4 sides of each aircraft model. Su 35 was in the Syrian company 4 sides. Su 34 also threw 4 sides.
3. The aircraft-carrying cruiser Kuznetsov is a rather old vessel, that it breaks is not news. This is spoken about openly.
4. Using helicopters as an example is foolish. This is an easy target. Any army has losses.

occupybacon

Russia lost around 11 aircraft in Syria, both planes and helis, half of them downed by technical problems, not by the enemy. It’s not rocket science to figure out

Ринат =)

So write how many lost aircraft and helicopters separately. On the sides. I know 2 fighting losses of planes. On helicopters not specified. In the example you give of the su 33, but he is not involved in the company. That makes 10 now, right?

occupybacon

Given the fact that half or the Russian aircraft lost in Syria had technical reasons, I don’t think that tech would help much the Russians…maybe the Iranians and Chinese a little bit

Gary Sellars

Given the fact that, as usual, you making shit up with zero references (not even lies from Zio-Murican govs), the result is that no-one cares about the BS spilling from your BJ hole.

occupybacon

The data of Russian aircraft losses in Syria is everywhere including on this site.Thinking it’s some secret shit that only experts could be aware shows how retard you are.

Gary Sellars

Then post some numbers fuckwit… A handful of fixed wing aircraft and a few helos is hardly qualifying as unacceptable losses.

You are really member of the bottom tier of the Murican troll army. Dumb fuck in-bred redneck retard.

occupybacon

I already posted it above, replying to another dipshit like you, just two comments above. If you want me to google it for you then kneel and suck my dick since your head doesn’t have any other use, Russian whore

Gary Sellars

Cocksucking is your speciality, and you’re very good at it (having been practising on your dad(s) and brothers since you could stand upright). Consider yerself owned little pig-fucking redneck.

occupybacon

It’s a pleasure for me to be insulted by retards that can’t search on google, I give you a simple one: ‘top suicide rates by country’ :)))

Gary Sellars

Riiiight… I can’t use google…

From wikipedia – suicides in Russia

“In 2015 there were 17.1 suicides per 100,000 people;[4] in 2016, it dropped to 15.6.[5]
The suicide rate has been steadily decreasing since it peaked at around 40 per 100,000 people in the mid-late 1990s”

From wikipedia – suicides in USA

Gary Sellars

No indication on the date of the dataset? No doubt its mid 90s when the economic collapse was at its most intense. Kinda like what Ukraine will experience in the not too distant future…

Average life expectancy for Rusisans is now ~73 years according to Rus gov, or 71.6 years according to World Bank. Could be better, but its immeasurably better than the Yelstin days of neoliberal shock therapy.

Day-um… don’t you hate it when facts just don’t help your absurd crusade… LOL!!! :-D

occupybacon

You wish that Ukraine’s economy will collapse and they eventually start to suicide and take your place, don’t you? Well bad news, Ukraine’s economy growth is 2.7% and Russia’s 1.6%.

Here’s the 2019 suicides data for you

That engine makes this non stealth!
The SU-57 is not stealthy from the rear! mainly from front and sides! Russians preferred both horizontal and vertical maneuvering which made the SU-57 non stealthy from the rear!
F-22 has stealth all round which is why it only has vertical thrust maneuvering and the jagged edges around the engine exhaust!

Therefore this aircraft (if using this engine) is not stealth (including from the from the front because of the planes dimensions and shape disallow it)

I believe this will be changed in future but as of right now, if they are using this engine, it is non stealth!

I dare say Russians are merely using this engine for testing purposes only!
So lets not talk about the engine so much because if u do, u cannot talk about stealth as well!

Yes the aircraft will be stealth when they develop the engine for it! As of right now, its not stealth at all!

stupid is as stupid does

I don’t like people like you.
You are probably some arrogant Western cunt who likes to lecture.
I will not waste my time with you, I’ll say only this;
Every engine has IR signature including F-22 .
Every Russian fighter jet has IRST capability to kill “stealth” planes and SU-57 much more than any existing jet because SU-57 is built for that task (of killing “stealth” jets).
Your “stealth” mantra comment is such boring s*it, endlessly used by some Western stealth cult freaks (like yourself).
We all know that “stealth = low obeservabilty only”doesn’t mean true “stealth”( That word is just Western propaganda marketing exaggeration).
Whatever crap you might say about SU-57 I am more than convinced that SU-57 can have F-22 arse kicked any time needed.
I just wait that you Western twats start something with Iran (or similar) so that we have good excuse to get rid of you for good you LGBTQ good for nothing pedophiles.
You decadent, feeble matriarchy twats.

Simon Bernstein

su57 byelka radar is half as powerful as F-22 anapg-77(v)1
su57 byelka radar is less powerful than f-35 anapg-81
su-57 has a radar cross section of 0.1-1 meter square, while f-35 and f-22 are 0.0001 meters squared

Dick Von Dast'Ard

Doesn’t really matter, there is no such thing as an invisible stealth jet.

The Russian jet is designed to out-fly and outfight the F-22/F-35.

If Russian air defenses could pick out drones attacking the air base at Khmeimim, then they won’t have much trouble locating a F-22 or F-35 and vectoring Su-27, Su-30, Su-35 or Su-57 against them.

Again, as shown in Syria.

“F-35 are 0.0001 meters squared” – zio… tell me one thing: Are you that stupid to really believe in that or that dumb to expect that others don’t know the truth and will buy into your fantasies?

Simon Bernstein

that’s what is known about the radar cross section. S-400 radars can only target the F-22 from 20km away and the F-35 from 35km away. It’s the truth, ET

Tudor Miron

Your kind and the truth have nothing in common.

The Jews are the only religion that have God who renounced them.
Who doesn’t want them.
Even Mercifully and all Forgiving God was fed up with them.
We should probably respect His Wisdom and do the same.

stupid is as stupid does

If so why didn’t Israel destroy Syrian S-300 already?
Also Iranian S-300 must be a joke for “mighty” US navy yet they hesitate. They must be scared.
If what you say is true than only logical answer is that Jews and Americunts are filthy cowards.

Looks to me like the Russians just changed the nature of air warfare.

Toronto Tonto

By what bombing themselves again dumbass . That pos will take them years to make it a functional threat , it is Russia we are talking about right .

AM Hants

You mistaking Russia for the US?

How long did the F35 take to get into active service and how much overbudget?
Have they ironed out the 100 primary problems, of the F35 (they stopped counting, once they reached a 100)?

Toronto Tonto

There will be no Russia to finish this prop for the populace .

Aleks Chernyy

It will be interesting to see how russians use these drones. There is a number of possible tactical applications including attack on ships, support of fighters, or bomber escort, independent roles, missile support roles, electronic warfare roles. I am looking forward to seeing how these equipment will be employed.

stupid is as stupid does

Russia has so many options to sink ships and hit ground targets on (safe) long distance. They don’t need stealth UAV to sneak in to do it.
One of the best is hyper-sonic “Dagger” that is operational already.
“New Russian hyper-sonic missile allegedly capable of destroying any ship:”
https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/new-russian-hyper-sonic-missile-allegedly-capable-of-destroying-any-ship-report/
They will use UAV probably for high interdiction ground targets. They’ll hit ground mobile AA defenses and SU-57 will take care about rest of NATO vermin that flies around.
I doubt that “Okhotnik” are meant for air combat ( they are too slow – range and stealth was imperative for UAV ). The will accompany SU-57 in missions and go forward to hit designated targets because they have lower signature than
SU-57 and they will receive mission in many situations directly from SU-57.

AM Hants

The Daily Mail, ran an article, on the drone. Only bothered going to the article, to check out the comments. Looks like ‘Integrity Initiative’ is running the DM comments section. Which interests me, when they are spending money, to try and rubbish the contents. Seems somebody is not happy the Russian Defence Industry is doing so well, with producing weapons and systems, that are cost effective, deliver on time and arrive in full working order. I wonder why?
