Ukrainian Could Soon Get Besieged In Kupyansk

In the Kharkiv direction, units of the “North” group took control of Petro Ivanovka, forcing the Ukrainian command to move reserves from the Kupyansk sector. Two groups of Spanish-speaking mercenaries refused to carry out combat tasks. In the Sumy direction, Russian assault groups advanced in fifteen sectors, pushed Ukrainian forces out of Bachevsk, and are advancing towards Glukhov. In the Dobropolye direction, the control zone along the road to Dobropolye has expanded, and fighting continues for Sergeevka. In the Zaporozhye direction, Russian forces in the northern sector destroyed an armored personnel carrier, five armored fighting vehicles, eleven trucks, and a company-sized unit of Ukrainian troops. In Konstantinovka, the clearance of more than 22,000 buildings captured by scattered groups continues. Assault units have engaged in combat in Alekseevo Druzhkovka and are advancing toward Kramatorsk. Politically, Tino Chrupalla, co-chair of the German party “Alternative for Germany,” stated that the federal government is not making efforts to end the conflict and called Defense Minister Boris Pistorius a “minister of war.”

Kharkiv direction

During fierce fighting, units of the “North” grouping of forces captured Petro Ivanovka in the northern part of the Kupyansk district. The 69th Motorized Rifle Division of the 6th Combined Arms Army’s assault groups pushed the 5th Brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard out of the settlement. The Ukrainian side attempted to hold the village by deploying additional forces, including Spanish-speaking mercenaries, to the area. Two groups of these mercenaries, at different times, refused to carry out their assigned tasks, reflecting the general state of the Ukrainian defense in this sector.

Although Petro Ivanovka is a small village, capturing it is important for putting further pressure on the northern part of the Kupyansk district. Russian forces are expanding their control zone and forcing the Ukrainian command to transfer reserves from other sectors to this one, including the Kupyansk area. This creates an additional problem for Ukrainian units: holding the Kupyansk direction requires an increasing number of “fire brigades,” which must be pulled from neighboring lines. Transferring reserves does not solve the main problem of stabilizing the front; it only temporarily slows the advance of Russian forces.

Sumy direction

Assault groups from the “North” military grouping continued to advance deeper into the Sumy direction. In the Shostka district, Russian assault forces are engaged in combat in Bachevsk and the surrounding area, as well as in Ulanovo. In the Sumy district, advances were achieved in fifteen sectors, up to 500 meters deep. Unabated firefights continue in Ryzhevka, Pisarevka, Marino, Novaya Sech village, Khoten settlement, and the surrounding areas, as well as in the forests south of Ivolzhanskoye. In the Krasnopolie district, fighting continues in the forests. During a fierce clash, a reconnaissance unit of Ukrainian troops was eliminated near Bolshoy Prikol.

Meanwhile, units of the “North” grouping are repelling counterattacks by Ukrainian forces in northern Sumy and advancing in the direction of Glukhov. In the area of the M02 (E101) highway, Russian assault groups pushed Ukrainian units out of Bachevsk in firefights. The Ukrainian side is counterattacking along the Loknya River ravines from Tolstodubovo. To the south, Russian forces are reinforcing their flanks and conducting operations to eliminate the pocket between Bachevsk and Komarovka. In the Ulanovo and Yastrebishchina area, Russian forces repelled counterattacks and engaged in fighting for control of these areas. Clashes continue in the Delnitsy tract, east of Korenyok.

Dobropolye direction

Russian units are continuing their offensive toward Dobropolye. The control zone along the Novoaleksandrovka–Dobropolye road has expanded by 2.5 kilometers. They have also advanced to the east towards Shevchenko. From Mirnoye, Russian troops are advancing toward Gulevo. To the south, fighting continues for control of Sergeevka, a town through which the Ukrainian military previously transported weapons and personnel to Krasnoarmeysk. The border sector with the Dnepropetrovsk direction remains difficult.

Between Kotlino and Udachnoye, Ukrainian units have lost their lines of communication; only scattered groups remain, and they are not conducting observations. They are supplied exclusively by air and cannot leave because Russian drone operators maintain round-the-clock control.

Zaporozhye direction

Units of the “East” force grouping maintain their tempo in the northern and western sectors. In the northern sector, Transbaikal troops have destroyed Ukrainian units and captured strongpoints in the Aleksandrovka and Bogodarovka areas. The Ukrainian side continues to send equipment and infantry to this area in an attempt to slow the advance of the assault groups. However, attempting to hold this sector is becoming increasingly futile: movement routes are being detected, columns are being destroyed, and personnel are being eliminated before they even arrive. In this area, Russian forces destroyed a large column of armored vehicles and trucks.

In the western sector, Far Eastern units have continued to break through Ukrainian defenses west of Lesnoye and capture strongpoints. Russian troops continue to detect and eliminate small groups attempting to infiltrate rear areas.

Konstantinovka direction

In the Donbass direction, the offensive continues after Russian forces took full control of Konstantinovka. The city, which has more than 22,000 buildings, has been fully captured, but clearance operations are still ongoing. Small groups of Ukrainian troops are hiding in basements and changing into civilian clothes. The situation resembles that in Avdeevka, where scattered Ukrainian soldiers were caught a month and a half later. This pattern of clearance is typical of modern urban warfare.

Assault units are fighting in Alekseevo Druzhkovka. Meanwhile, the 6th Motorized Rifle Division is advancing from the Chasov Yar side and clearing the territory along the railway towards Kramatorsk. Ukrainian units are trying to consolidate in Druzhkovka, but the second and third defense lines are practically empty due to an acute shortage of personnel. On the right flank, units of the “Vostok” grouping have entered Aleksandrovka, near Pokrovsk. In Ternovato, Russian troops are pushing Ukrainian forces out to secure the flank.

Conclusion

In the Kharkiv, Sumy, Dobropolye, Zaporozhye, and Konstantinovka directions, Russian forces are systematically expanding their control zones, inflicting losses on Ukrainian forces and weakening their operational position. The capture of Petro Ivanovka increases pressure on the Kupyansk area. The refusal of foreign mercenaries to carry out tasks indicates a decline in morale. In the Zaporozhye direction, Russian forces are thwarting Ukrainian attempts to gain the upper hand by destroying equipment and personnel on the approaches. In Konstantinovka, the clearance operation is nearing completion, and assault units have engaged in combat in Alekseevo Druzhkovka and are advancing towards Kramatorsk. The supply of isolated Ukrainian garrisons is increasingly carried out only by drones, which undermines their combat capability.

The political backdrop in Europe is marked by growing criticism of official Berlin’s actions. Tino Chrupalla, co-chair of the “Alternative for Germany” party, stated that the federal government is not making efforts to end the conflict in Ukraine. “I do not see any efforts on the part of this federal government aimed at finally putting an end to this conflict in Ukraine, in which we are now participating not only with money,” he said in an interview with NTV. He believes that statements from Chancellor Friedrich Merz and representatives of the Bundeswehr are only exacerbating the situation in Europe. Chrupalla believes that Merz should negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The AfD leader called Defense Minister Boris Pistorius a “minister of war,” emphasizing that Pistorius’s statements about Germany’s readiness for war indicate a desire to enter the conflict and contribute to escalation. Thus, the domestic political discussion in Germany increasingly reflects a split on the issue of supporting Kyiv and ways of settling the conflict.
