A brief overview of the recent developments in Afghanistan:
- 29 government troops defected to the Taliban in the districts of Baghlan-e-Markazi, Rostaq in Baghlan province, the Taliban reported;
- 8 government personnel reportedly joined the Taliban in the Kamdish district, Nooristan province, the group said;
- At least 8 soldiers were killed and 3 others were wounded in Kunduz province, according to the Taliban;
- A new round of the US-Taliban peace talks is ongoing in Doha.
