A brief overview of the recent developments in Afghanistan:

  • 12 government troops were killed and 4 others were injured in a Taliban attack in the Shoortipa district of Balkh province, the Taliban claims;
  • Taliban fighters stormed a police check point at the Gul Tipa district of Kunduz province. 3 police officers were killed and 2 others were taken prisoners;
  • The Taliban closed medical centers in the districts of Hisarak, Sherzad, Surkh Rod, Lal Pur and Khogyani, Nangarhar province, government sources say;
  • A January 8 strike on the Shindand district, Herat province, killed or injured at least 15 civilians.

The one thing I do not like about the Taliban is – “The Taliban closed medical centers in the districts of Hisarak, Sherzad, Surkh Rod, Lal Pur and Khogyani, Nangarhar province, government sources say” – IF TRUE.
