A brief overview of the recent developments in Afghanistan:

• 2 children died in an IED explosion in Mazar-e-Sharif, the provincial capital of Balkh province;
• At least 30 government troops died in clashes with the Taliban in the Archi district of Kunduz province, the Balkh district of Balkh province, and the Darqad district of Takhar province. At least 14 Taliban members were also killed;
• The Taliban claimed that its infiltrators killed 2 government troops in the Zaman Jan area of Tarinkot city.
