A brief overview of the recent developments in Afghanistan:
- At least 15 civilians were killed and 2 others were wounded after their vehicle was hit by a roadside mine blast in the Khan Abad district of Kunduz province;
- 13 civilians were injured in a car bomb explosion in the Sayyad district of Sar-e-Pul province;
- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks in Tehran with a Taliban delegation led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, one of the group’s founders. The sides discussed the peace process in Afghanistan;
- On November 27, Mark Milley, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, in Kabul said that the chances of a successful outcome from peace talks to end the Afghan war is higher than before and could happen in the “near term”.
