A brief overview of the recent developments in Afghanistan:

  • Over the past week, around 300 ISIS members including women and children surrendered to Afghan Special Forces in the Achin district of Nangarhar province, the Army Special Forces commander in the Achin district announced;
  • The Taliban declared that its members had stormed government forces’ positions in the areas of Chaqmaq, Sra Meyasht, Chaqir Balan and Kata Qashlan in the Pashtun Kot district. 3 government troops were reportedly killed and 3 others were injured;
  • 7 government personnel surrendered to the Taliban in the districts of Sahkeen and Ahmad Khail of Paktika province, the group said;
  • 10 government troops surrendered to the Taliban in the districts of Khas Balkh, Zaray and Kashinda of Balkh province, the group said.
