In the direction of Kostiantynivka, Russian units advanced into the industrial zone and crossed the Kryvyi Torets River. They are currently fighting within the grounds of a former chemical plant. These advances threaten to encircle part of the Ukrainian garrison in the southeastern section of the city. In the direction of Dnipropetrovsk, Russian troops have captured Dobropasove and are gradually clearing “pockets” of resistance, suppressing small groups of Ukrainian troops across a wide sector of the front. In the Sumy area, Russian troops have taken Zapsillia and are advancing through the forests north of the Oleshnia River. They are also fighting for control of the eastern outskirts of Mykhailivka and Krasnopillia and have finished clearing Riasne. In the Kharkiv area, Russian assault groups advanced 900 meters in the Vovchansk sector and 1,100 meters in the Velykyi Burluk sector. They are fighting in Karaichne, Okhrimivka, and Budarka. In the Kupyansk area, Russian forces have achieved tactical successes near the Kurylivka railway station and in the forested area along the Nyzhnia Dvorichna River. However, Kupyansk itself remains a “grey zone.” In the Pokrovsk area, Russian forces have expanded their control zone along the E-50 highway and advanced toward Serhiivka. They are also advancing along both banks of the Hryshynka River toward Myrne. The number of countries participating in the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine has halved, from 18 to nine, according to the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel.
Kostiantynivka Direction
Units of the “South” troop grouping continue to establish control over the city of Kostiantynivka. From the southwest, Russian units advanced into the “Kvarsita” industrial zone and the former “Avtosteklo” plant. They crossed the Kryvyi Torets River and are fighting near the former chemical plant and the “Hlaskomerts” management building.
Meanwhile, Russian units advancing from the northeast have reached the area between Chekhova and Bakhmutska Streets. They are currently fighting in the area between Shevchenko and Pervomaiska Streets, as well as near School No. 5. Ukrainian units maintain a 1.2-kilometer-wide corridor in the area of the railway. A threat of encirclement is being created for part of the city’s garrison along the southeastern and southern sections of Lermontova Street. Russian drone operators control any movements in the city.
On the northern flank, Russian units are engaged in combat in Molocharka and the forested area west of Novodmytrivka. Russian assault groups have pushed Ukrainian units out of strongpoints. On the western flank, Russian units are clashing with Ukrainian forces in Dovha Balka.
Sumy Direction
In the Sumy area, units of the “North” group continue to expand the security zone near the state border, conducting active offensive operations.
In the northern Yunakivka sector, Russian forces are advancing from Korchakivka into the forested area, expanding their control zone. Firefights are ongoing on the right bank of the Oleshnia River in the northern part of Ivolzhanske and the eastern part of Pisarivka, as well as on the outskirts of Nova Sich. Southwest of Yunakivka, Russian assault groups advanced along the tree line toward Khrapivshchyna. Clashes continue in the forested areas east of Yunakivka and in the Sadky area. Russian units are advancing northeast of the Zavodovshchyna tract.
South of Myropillia, Russian units advanced from Hornali, cleared the Zapsillia settlement, and are fighting in the Psol River’s southern forested areas, approaching Velyka Rybytsia. South of Myropillia, Russian units are advancing from Myropilske and putting pressure on Ukrainian forces, pushing them back toward the outskirts of Mala Rybytsia. There is fierce fighting for control of the eastern outskirts of Mykhailivka and Krasnopillia. Beyond the railway to the south, Russian units have cleared Riasne and repelled counterattacks by Ukrainian forces. Clashes continue in the area.
Kharkiv Direction
In the Kharkiv area, the “North” grouping’s assault units continue to expand the security zone. Russian troops have attacked Ukrainian unit concentrations of personnel and equipment in Bilyi Kolodiaz, Ternova, Petropavlivka, Buhayivka, Rubizhne, Kolodezne, Novyi Burluk, Vesele, and Oleksandrivka.
There are ongoing firefights in Hranove. Russian assault groups are pushing Ukrainian servicemen out of the border settlement.
In the Vovchansk area, the “North” grouping’s assault units advanced up to 900 meters along eleven fronts. Russian assault groups are engaged in firefights in Karaichne and Okhrimivka, as well as in the forested areas of the Vovchansk district.
In the Velykyi Burluk area, Russian troops advanced approximately 1,100 meters along four fronts, including Budarka and the forested areas of the Kupyansk district and the Novovasylivka area.
Kupyansk Direction
In the Kupyansk area, there have been no significant changes in the line of contact. However, the gradual advance of Russian troops indicates tactical success. Ukrainian units are trying to deploy reinforcements to defend their positions, while Russian drone operators are identifying Ukrainian logistical routes and carrying out combined strikes on these targets.
In the Dvorichna sector, Russian troops are advancing toward Kutkivka, and clashes are ongoing in the forested area along the Nyzhnia Dvorichna River. In Kupyansk itself, combat operations are primarily conducted using drones on both sides. Neither side has stable control over the city — the entire area is a “grey zone.” Russian units are actively destroying Ukrainian logistics, which Ukrainian troops use to penetrate Zaoskillya. In the Kurylivka area, on the eastern flank, Russian troops have advanced to the Kurylivka railway station.
Pokrovsk Direction
In the Hryshyne area, Russian troops have expanded their control zone along the E-50 highway to the ravine next to Serhiivka. Russian troops are assaulting the village from the south, approaching from Udachne. In the Vasylivka area, Russian troops are advancing along both banks of the Hryshynka River toward Myrne, and clashes are ongoing in the tree lines between the settlements.
North of Novooleksandrivka, the control zone has expanded by one and a half kilometers towards Dobropillia. Advancement here remains complicated by the open terrain and the large number of drones used by Ukraine.
Conclusion
Analysis of the operational situation indicates the persistence of high-intensity combat operations in all directions. In the direction of Kostiantynivka, Russian units have advanced into the industrial zone, threatening to encircle part of the garrison. They continue to systematically clear city blocks using flanking maneuvers and combined strikes. In the Sumy area, the clearing of Zapsillia, the advance toward Velyka Rybytsia, and the fighting for Krasnopillia demonstrate the systematic expansion of Russian troops’ control zone along the border. In the Kharkiv and Kupyansk areas, Russian troops are expanding the security zone by striking logistical routes and concentrations of Ukrainian forces. In the Pokrovsk area, advances toward Serhiivka and expansion of the control zone near Novooleksandrivka create conditions for further pressure on the Ukrainian defense.
An important event in the international political context was a statement by Czech President Petr Pavel. According to Pavel, the number of countries participating in the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine has halved, dropping from 18 to nine. The initiative continues to operate and supplies up to 50 percent of all large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine, making it difficult to replace. Pavel added that this issue should be discussed at the NATO summit in Ankara in July. The Czech president’s office refused to name the countries that withdrew from the initiative. Since 2022, Czech entrepreneur Dalibor Dedek’s organization has purchased over one billion crowns (41 million euros) worth of equipment for the Ukrainian army, including a tank, a rocket launcher, drones, and ammunition. The reduction in the number of donor countries demonstrates growing fatigue among Western allies and decreased willingness to finance military supplies for Kyiv.
