Iranian, Russian Naval Developments March 22-25, 2019 (Map Update)

  • The Iranian Navy continues counter piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden;
  • On March 24, Varshavyanka-class diesel-electric submarine Stary Oskol of the Russia Black Sea Fleet returned to its home station in Sevastopol after drills;
  • On March 22, 10 ships, including Nanuchka-class corvette Moroz and Grisha-class corvette Osa, of the Russian Pacific Fleet held live-fire rocket and artillery drills near the Kamchatka Peninsula;
  • On March 22-25, a ship search-and-strike group, including Udaloy-class destroyers Admiral Tributs and Admiral Vinogradov of the Russian Pacific Fleet, held anti-submarine drills in the Peter the Great Gulf;
  • On March 22, Dyugon-class landing craft Midshipman Lermontov, Denis Davydov and Lieutenant Rimskij-Korsakov, and Serna-class landing craft D-67 as well as 10 units of military equipment and 50 marines of the Russian Baltic Fleet participated in landing drills;
  • On March 22, Karakurt-class corvette Mytishchi of the Russian Baltic Fleet held air defense drills.
