The Houthis (Ansar Allah) and their local allies ambushed on August 6 a large unit of the Saudi-led coalition in the northern Yemeni province of Saada.
A video of the ambush shows that the unit was moving within the Saudi-held area of Suq Al Thabit in northern Saada, when Houthi fighters took it by surprise attacking from nearby hilltops.
As a result of the ambush, several fighters of Saudi-backed force were captured and an IAG Guardian armored vehicle of the coalition was burned by Houthis.
This ambush is an example of the complex situation the Saudi-led coalition is dealing with on the border with Yemen. Houthi fighters are moving freely on the border line and within Saudi-held areas in northern Yemen due to their better knowledge of the region’s rough terrain.
