On August 3, warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a series of airstrikes against ISIS in the eastern al-Suwayda countryside for the first time since the appearance of the terrorist group there, according to the al-Suwayda 24 blog.
The Syria-based blog said that Russian warplanes conducted more than 50 airstrikes on positions and hideouts of the terrorist group in the areas of Wadi al-Nassim, Tariq al-Tamthunah and Mughr Sath Namlah during the last 24 hours.
Furthermore, the SAA’s artillery and battle tanks shelled and destroyed several vehicles of ISIS, which were stationed in the middle of the nearby Damascus desert.
The SAA and local fighters are currently preparing to launch a large-scale military operation against the remaining fighters of ISIS in the eastern al-Suwayda countryside. According to Syrian pro-government activists, the upcoming operation will not be limited to the eastern countryside, but will also include the Damascus desert up to the border with the area of al-Tanaf.
