On Thursday, Turkish Presidential Press Secretary İbrahim Kalin announced in a press conference that Iran and Turkey agreed to boost military cooperation.

The announcement followed a visit of Major General Mohammad Bagheri, the Chief of Staff for the Iranian Army, to Ankara this week. Baqheri met with his Turkish counterpart general Hulusi Akar and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Kalin described the visit as “fruitful and successful”, and added that “An agreement was reached to hold further high-level visits from now on … A series of activities will also be held to boost military cooperation.”

General Mohammad Bagheri reveled in a statement to the Iranian media that Iran and Turkey also agreed on intelligence sharing, and operational cooperation. Kalin also said that the two countries have the same views on counter-terrorism cases and the Syrian and Iraqi crises.

About the Iraq Kurdistan independence referendum General Bagheri said that Turkey and Iran are against it and that they both believe “it should not take place.”

“We call upon them –referring to the Kurdistan Regional Government – to renege on this decision. They can pass this decision in their parliament and print voting cards. What is important is to think wisely and take the right steps. In this regard, there are some steps which both the Baghdad government and the Kurdistan Regional Government should take. With respect to this, we will be doing whatever we should in consultation with regional countries,” Kalin said.

General Mohammad Bagheri visit is considered the first visit of the Iranian military chief of staff to Tukey since the Iranian Islamic Revaluation in 1975.

Can Erdogan really be trusted?

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

NO !

Especially with the face he wears , he always has the same mask on before he back stabs anyone.

Serious

Never trust sunnis. They are traitors just like americans and jevvs.

Moussa Saab

Not Sunnis, it is just the U.S puppets.

Russell A Wilson

Turkey, Iraq.Iran, and Syria have a common interest when it comes to the Kurdish question. They definitely will not reconize the upcoming independence vote as the four of them agree it is a threat to their sovereignty and will not tolerate a sovereign state that will divide their borders. Of course the US is behind the push for the Kurdish state. How they are going to get the US out of the way without violence remains to be scene but all hell will break out at the UN. Turkey needs this alliance as it will no longer remain in Nato if the US insists on backing the Kurds. I can see an automonis region for the Kurds but not full statehood. If Turkey leaves Nato I wonder who will follow.

Serious

Why did Turkey attack Syria ? He made a very stupid push. On the contrary, Turkey should have worked with Syria.

Bru

They stupidly trusted the US elite…

Serious

Of course. Sunnis are stupid.

Bru

And behind the US don’t forget Israel: Netyanou , in an incredible affront to the other countries, has already stated that Israel will recognise Kurdistan!

Russell A Wilson

US = Isreal all thy really want to do is keep the kaos going because peace is not in the best interest of the US war economy.

matt

The Kurds should rule themselves!!! Fuck the Turkish, Persian and Arab opressors!!!!

Moussa Saab

I got another question for some Kurdish/US supporter. If Sudam Hussein was put to power by the U.S, and Sadam Hussein was oppressing the Kurds, why didn’t U.S care about them until now that they are useful for U.S interests?

matt

Fuck the USA as well! I can not wait untill ALL big countries fall apart, for they are allways opressors!

gustavo

I am sure that Israel and USA are getting nervous about this agreement.

Thegr8rambino

good, they all need to pull together to stop a US/zio kurdistan from forming and gaining steam
