The Ukrainian military has carried out 39 blasts and bombardments of the railway infrastructure in the Donbas region, the press service of the Transportation Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) has said.
“The Ukrainian army units have committed 39 terrorist attacks designed to destroy the Donbas railway infrastructure between February 1 and July 20, 2015,” the Donetsk News Agency quotes the ministry’s spokesman as saying.
According to the DPR Transportation Ministry, Ukrainian saboteurs organized 20 blasts on rail tracks to disrupt transportation. In addition to that, the Donetsk People’s Republic registered 19 artillery bombardments by Kiev-controlled forces, which damaged railway terminals, bridges, rail tracks, carriages and freight train locomotives.
“In June and July 2015, four sabotage operations were carried out on the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics and six artillery bombardments were registered on the Donetsk railway facilities,” the ministry noted.
The Donbas region ceasefire formally came into force on February 15. Requirements to halt hostilities were envisaged in a package of measures for implementing peace accords signed in Minsk, Belarus, three days before. Authorities of the two territories have repeatedly said observance of the truce depended entirely on the Ukrainian side.
