Two technicians of the Israeli Air Force (IAF) have been charged with spying on behalf of Iran, Israeli authorities announced on April 23.
An indictment filed by military prosecutors accused the two, who served technicians for American-made F-15 fighter jets at the Tel Nof Air Base, of a series of “security offenses on behalf of Iranian intelligence elements.”
One soldier was charged with aiding an enemy in wartime, providing information to an enemy, facilitating contact with a foreign agent, and additional offenses. Meanwhile, the second soldier was charged with contact with a foreign agent, providing information to the enemy, and additional offenses.
In a joint statement, the Shin Bet security agency, the Israeli Defense Forces, and the police said that the two IAF technicians claimed in their interrogation that contact with their Iranian handlers was severed after they refused to carry out tasks involving weapons.
“However, even after the contact was cut off at the initiative of the handler, they did not cease attempts to renew contact, for the purpose of financial gain,” the statement said.
The two soldiers “maintained contact with Iranian intelligence elements and carried out various tasks under their direction in exchange for money” over several months, according to the indictment.
One of the soldiers transferred to an Iranian agent “materials from his military training relating to fighter aircraft systems, as well as documentation of facilities and areas within a military base,” it said.
The investigation was carried out jointly by the Shin Bet, Military Police, and Israel Police, who again warned Israeli citizens, including soldiers, about “maintaining contact with foreign elements from enemy states,” or even “carrying out tasks for them in exchange for payment or any other benefit.”
Tel Nof Air Base, located in central Israel, hosts the IAF’s 106 Squadron, which operates specially upgraded F-15C/D Baz fighter jets.
Since the start of the war on Iran, several Israeli soldiers and civilians have been arrested and accused of spying on the Islamic Republic. In most cases, the accused were recruited online via social networks. The recruitment of not one, but two technicians from the IAF can be considered a major success for the intelligence of the Islamic Republic.

within israel there is actual opposition to the government against within the airforce as many pilots know what they are doing is just plain wrong and c rimes against h umanity.
dan halutz former airforce chief was protesting for peace during the gaza conflict the police brutally dragged him from the street.
those who are against are mostly against cause they fear it will at some point cause the west to abandon them and then they will have to fend the arabs of on their own. not cause they care about crimes or what is done to arabs.
so its not just a one way thing. how can the chosen be tempted to sell out their promissed homeland? or were those druz? since arabs would not be allowed in these positions.
