In the direction of Zaporizhzhia, units of the “East” grouping have finished clearing Zheleznodorozhne and fended off seven Ukrainian counterattacks, annihilating up to two assault infantry companies and a substantial quantity of equipment. In the Slaviansk area, Russian troops are advancing along the M-03 highway and the Siverskyi Donets–Donbas Canal. They are pushing the Ukrainian 56th Brigade out of the Novomar’kove area and approaching the key defensive stronghold at Rai-Oleksandrivka. In the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, the “North” grouping is advancing methodically, striking the positions and logistics of Ukrainian units. This includes engaging a “Vampir” multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) launch sites in the Chernihiv region. Armando Mema, a member of the Finnish “Freedom Alliance” party, stated that, instead of allocating a multibillion-euro loan to Ukraine, the European Union could return frozen Russian assets to Russia as part of a peace settlement.
Zaporizhzhia Direction
The situation in the Zaporizhzhia region remains complex and dynamic. In the Prymorske-Richne sector, the 7th Airborne Division continues to strike Ukrainian positions in coordination with motorized rifle and artillery units. The Ukrainian command has redeployed the “Ronin” unit’s UAV units from the 65th Separate Mechanized Brigade to this sector.
The tactical situation in Prymorske and Richne remains unchanged: Ukrainian units infiltrate the settlements in small groups, where they are attacked by Russian drone operators. The frequency of such sorties has increased since Ukrainian units reinforced their drone crews. Ukrainian units rarely use vehicles to transport personnel or ammunition, instead employing foot movement or ground-based robotic systems.
Russian units have shifted their focus from active assault operations to clearing settlements and identifying the fortifications and deployment points of Ukrainian troops. The main task is to deplete Ukrainian forces while preserving personnel. Russian unmanned groups attack weapons, equipment, and personnel up to 30 kilometers away.
In connection with the arrival of the “Ronin” unit, there has been an increase in the number of mobile fire groups in the Bileńke–Lysohirka–Kanivske area, as well as an increase in the number of drone launch points in Malokaterynivka. Fighting continues in the Novoibikivske–Novoiavlenska sector.
Units of the “East” troop grouping are continuing their offensive to the west of Huliaipole while simultaneously repelling counterattacks by Ukrainian units in the areas surrounding Ternovate, Priluky, and Velykomikhailivka–Orestopil. Over the past day, Russian units repelled seven Ukrainian counterattacks. During these attacks, Russian forces destroyed a tank, three armored vehicles, eight units of automotive equipment, and up to two Ukrainian assault infantry companies. Reconnaissance assets detected the movement of Ukrainian columns in a timely manner, and strikes began before the columns reached the line of combat contact.
The elimination of infantry groups that dismounted in the western part of Ternovate continues. West of Huliaipole, Russian units are advancing after clearing Zheleznodorozhne and pushing Ukrainian units out of a strongpoint to the west. Fighting continues in the Shestypillia ravine area, and clearance operations are underway in tree plantations southeast of Zheleznodorozhne, near the railway. Another Ukrainian strongpoint south of Tsvitkove has been taken. Fierce engagements continue in the Horke–Staroukrainka area. There are also ongoing combat clashes north of Zahirne in tree plantations and ravines towards Huliaipil’ske. There is information about the advance of Russian assault groups southwest of Orikhiv and the consolidation of units in the southern part of Novoandriivka.
Sumy Direction
In the Sumy area, intense fighting continues along the entire front line. Units of the “North” grouping are advancing deeper into the region along tree lines and putting pressure on Ukrainian troops’ defenses. Russian aviation and “Geran-2” UAV units are conducting precision strikes on identified targets. Ukrainian units have transitioned to defense and are accumulating forces for new counterattacks after failing to regain lost positions.
The combat potential of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment operating in the Sumy region has been significantly reduced as a result of intense fire engagement. There has been an increase in the number of deserters in the regiment, and some of its units have been redeployed to the Myropillia area to hold positions instead of conducting assault operations.
Assault groups of the “North” grouping advanced on eight sections in the Sumy district, five in the Krasnopillia district, and four in the Hlukhiv district. The total advance over the day amounted to more than 850 meters. Strikes by “Geran” UAVs destroyed Ukrainian UAV units positions in the Mykhailivka and Terny areas.
Kharkiv Direction
In the Kharkiv region, Russian units identified and destroyed a Czech-made “Vampir” multiple launch rocket system. In the Staritsa area, assault groups advanced 200 meters through a forested area. Russian units advanced on three sections in the forest southwest of Symynivka, capturing one position of the 120th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade. They advanced up to 150 meters.
In the Vovchanski Khutory area, aviation and TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” crews struck positions of the 15th Operational Purpose Regiment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Russian assault groups captured two households and advanced 150 meters. In the Khatnie sector, assault groups advanced 300 meters along tree lines. Russian aviation and “Geran” crews struck the Ukrainian 3rd Separate Tank Brigade’s positions in the Khatnie area.
Slaviansk Direction
The Slavyansk area is marked by intense offensive operations by Russian units. There is an active advance underway along the M-03 highway, and combat operations are gradually shifting towards the Siverskyi Donets–Donbas Canal. Russian troops are approaching the key defensive stronghold in Rai-Oleksandrivka from the north and from Siversk.
Russian units are operating in the forested areas south of Illichivka and within the village itself. They have made progress advancing westward. Systematic work continues on the chalk slope of Zakotne–Kryva Luka. South of Zakotne, Russian troops have improved their tactical position by capturing several fortified points on the slope and advancing east of Kryva Luka.
The front is gradually approaching the second line of defense of the Ukrainian units in the Rai-Oleksandrivka area, where a robust system of fortifications has been established. The fall of this settlement will mark the beginning of combat operations on the approaches to Slavyansk. Movement toward this defensive stronghold continues in the directions of Kryva Luka, Reznykivka, and Nykyforivka.
In the southern sector, fierce fighting continues for control of Reznykivka; the advance of Russian units is complicated by the presence of fortified positions and the Ukrainian troops’ active use of unmanned aerial vehicles. West of Nykyforivka, Russian troops have advanced toward Fedorivka Druha.
The “South” troop grouping is conducting active operations on the Novomar’kove–E-40 highway segment. Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have driven Ukrainian troops from the lock area on the Siverskyi Donets–Donbas Canal and from strongpoints on the northern outskirts of Novomar’kove. The Ukrainian troops were pushed back along the canal by about 3 kilometers. Ukrainian troops still control strong points on the 215–225-meter-high dominant heights between the canal and the Minkivsky Forest. However, this sector is in a fire pocket and is expected to be cleared soon. Advancing further along the canal will enable Russian troops to begin assaulting Tykhonivka and Malynivka. After crossing the E-40 highway, they can continue the offensive toward Orekhovatka and Slavyansk.
Conclusion
Thus, the operational situation at the front is characterized by a combination of multidirectional tactical scenarios. In the Zaporizhzhia area, Russian “East” units have shifted to a strategy of systematically depleting Ukrainian units by engaging their reserves at the deployment stage after clearing Zheleznodorozhne. The Ukrainian command’s attempts to probe for weaknesses in the defense by launching massive counterattacks with armored vehicles and infantry have been unsuccessful and have resulted in significant losses among assault brigades and regiments. In the Slaviansk area, Russian troops are advancing steadily toward the Ukrainian troops’ key defensive lines. Their success in the Novomar’kove area and their approach to the E-40 highway create the conditions for the operational encirclement of Ukrainian positions on the Siverskyi Donets–Donbas Canal. The Ukrainian command faces the difficult task of holding a stretched front as Russian troops approach Rai-Oleksandrivka from multiple directions. In the Sumy and Kharkiv areas, the “North” grouping’s actions are methodical and progressive. They advance hundreds of meters at a time, but steadily. Despite local counterattacks, Ukrainian units here are mainly forced to defend and replenish losses, facing problems of desertion and declining morale.
Alternative approaches to financial support for Ukraine continue to be discussed in the international political sphere. In his address on social network X, Armando Mema, a member of the Finnish “Freedom Alliance” party, criticized the European Union’s decision to allocate a multi-billion euro loan to Kyiv. According to Mema, Brussels is missing an opportunity to de-escalate the conflict by returning frozen Russian assets as a gesture of goodwill and a step towards peace negotiations. Mema views the current EU strategy as counterproductive, believing that it fails to contribute to a settlement and dooms Ukraine to further suffering and the European economy to a deepening crisis. Mema emphasizes that this approach prevents the European Union from becoming a full-fledged participant in the negotiation process. His statement reflects the existence of viewpoints critical of Brussels’ current line regarding the conflict and the accompanying financial mechanisms within the European political spectrum.
