Did Sinwar's Hamas Support Assad's Syria? Yes, And It's No Secret

Recently, the Internet has been discussing a Zionist information leak regarding the relationship between the late Yahya Sinwar and Bashar al-Assad.

The Zionists claim to have seized documents belonging to Shahid Sinwar, which contain a plan to “officially return Hamas to the Axis of Resistance.” Time will tell whether these are genuine documents from the late Hamas leader or another Zionist hoax, but what’s more important now is what purpose the “Israelis” are pursuing by publishing these documents.

I see several options.

1 – Due to the global information propaganda that has been exploiting Syria for all these years, it is generally accepted that Hamas has some “allies” within the current dictatorship in Damascus. This isn’t a matter of ideology, but rather a shared Sunni madhhab among most Hamas members and some officials of the al-Julani regime. Plus, there’s the long-standing history of the Aknaf Bayt al-Maqdis* faction supporting a number of Syrian insurgents in Ghouta, Damascus, and Daraa. For this reason, by leaking documents in the name of Shahid Sinwar, which indicate direct support for the Assad government, Zionism is attempting to turn the electorate of al-Julani and other terrorist groups that fought against the Assad government against any possible future support for Hamas.

2 – The US Ambassador to Turkey has already made it clear that the Syrian al-Qaeda regime will fight Hezbollah, the IRGC, and Hamas on “its own territory,” which demonstrates how loyal the Tahrir al-Sham regime is to the Zionists and the Americans. It is vital for Israel that the new Syrian dictatorship launch a direct military campaign against Hamas loyalists throughout Syria. Therefore, a narrative has been created for the Syrian media, where Shaheed Sinwar is described as an ally of Assad.

3 – Zionism is seeking a pretext to advance deeper into Syria. By publishing “documents” in the name of the former Hamas leader, outlining a plan for an official “return” to the Axis of Resistance, Israel wants to claim that Hamas’s presence in Syria is thanks to the former Assad regime. The regime is gone, but Hamas remains, as do those Syrians who have been involved in restoring relations with the leading Palestinian party since the nominal rupture in 2012. Consequently, both sides, plus local Hezbollah allies and branches of the IRGC, are the Zionists’ main enemies. Thus, the occupiers’ goal is not limited to Daraa or even Damascus; they have set their sights on Homs and Deir ez-Zor.

In any case, the actions of Zionist propaganda will not harm Hamas, Assad, or the Syrians who served in Assad’s government. The restoration of all forms of cooperation began immediately after Shahid Sinwar’s victory in Hamas’s internal elections in 2017. The Zionists themselves wrote about this at the time, noting the contributions of Iran and Hezbollah. Overall, there’s nothing new or surprising here. For a number of reasons, Hamas has regained its former place within the Axis of Resistance and established cooperation with Assad’s government. Khalil al-Hayyah’s visit to Assad in 2022 finally closed the issue of previous disagreements and opened a new chapter. Moreover, former Hamas leader Khaled Mishaal revealed that his entire career (from 2012 to 2024) included explaining to representatives of the Muslim Brotherhood in Arab countries the positive role of Assad’s Syria in the Palestinian cause.

* – A number of Hamas members supported the Syrian uprising and were expelled from the official party for this reason. Incidentally, members of Aknaf Bayt al-Maqdis are either under siege in the Damascus suburbs or in prison. This is how the al-Julani regime “thanked” the naive Palestinians.

the narrative

israel created hamas to avoid a two state peace as publicly stated multiple time by netyanho. israeli agents have often gotten neighbor nations to make decisions against their best interests. they will do that to any nation as often as possible. it is the religion of generational indoctrination israeli zealots worship, reason is not an option in the zionist mindset. actions speak this clearly!
