On November 3, the Russian military advanced towards the key city of Krasny Liman in Donetsk from three different directions.
To the north of Krasny Liman, the Yug [South] Group of Forces broke through Ukrainian defenses reaching the northern outskirts of Yarova. Russian troops advanced in a dense forest area, capturing more than eight square kilometers in the process.
Yarova is located right on the main road leading to the northern entrance of Krasny Liman. Thus, capturing the town will create more logistical problems for Kiev forces.
The Yug Group of Forces also advanced to the northeast of Krasny Liman, capturing more than half of Stavky after repelling multiple Ukrainian counter attacks.
Once the settlement is fully secured, Russian troops will be able to mount a direct attack on the northeastern suburbs of the city around Liman Lake.
Close to the southern entrance of Krasny Liman, the Yug Group of Forces continue to expand its control in the Maslyakovka district. However, Russian troops are yet to push into the southern part of the city, where Ukrainian defenses are likely more coherent.

Further to the south of the city, the troops are reported to have made additional gains in Yampil, specifically in the northern part of the key settlement.
If Yampil is captured by Yug Group of Forces, the main road linking Krasny Liman with the city of Seversk to the south will be severed.
It’s worth noting that Kiev forces in Krasny Liman and nearby areas are facing some serious logistical problems as a result of Russian drone units. All roads leading to the city are under constant attacks. Movement of Ukrainian military vehicles is very limited.
In addition, a video that surfaced online recently revealed that Russian special forces have begun conducting raids behind Ukrainian defenses around Krasny Liman. The footage shows multiple Ukrainian soldiers who were captured in one of the recent raids.
Kiev forces could still hold onto Krasny Liman. However, to do that they will need to deploy additional reinforcements, which they don’t likely have. The fall of the city will likely lead to the collapse of all Ukrainian defenses to the east of the Siverskyi Donets River in that sector of Donetsk.
