A Russian pinpoint airstrike hit on August 2 the Korabel bridge in the western part of the Ukrainian-controlled city of Kherson.
The bridge was targeted with a single FAB-3000 bomb equipped with a UMPK [Russian: УМПК; Унифицированный модуль планирования и коррекции, Unified gliding and correction module] kit. The bomb hit the key bridge with extreme precision, inflicting heavy damage on it.
The UMPK kit was developed by Russia’s Bazalt Design Bureau to convert unguided Soviet bombs into precision-guided munitions. It was first fitted to the FAB-250 and 500 bombs. Later, larger models were developed for the FAB-1500 and 3000.
The FAB-3000, a general-purpose bomb, weighs around three tons with some 1,4 tons of explosives. When upgraded with the UMPK kit, the bomb can hit targets with high accuracy thanks to a GLONASS-aided inertial navigation system.
The kit allows the bomb to glide with a range of up to 80 kilometers, depending on the altitude and speed of the carrier warplane at the time of its release.
While UMPK-equipped bombs can be employed by most warplanes in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS), the FAB-3000 has been only spotted loaded on Su-34 fighter bombers which have the sufficient power to maneuver with the heavy bomb.
The Korabel is one of the largest bridges to get hit since the start of the Russian special military operation. The pinpoint strike proves that the VKS has the ability to target very similar bridges on the Dnieper River, if needed. So far, Russia has refrained from taking such a step.

those on kiev bridges would cause real headaches for the capital’s rush hours.
didn’t bother nato in belgrade much.
looks like highly accurate but not timed correctly. apparently it passed through and then went off rather than upon impact.
was a little strange. the smoke though was ahead of him plus the first vid shows explosion on contact in slomo. probably one of those elusive black holes that used to appear in syria on demand.
they have lots of bombs and there are plenty of bridges across the entire front so hopefully they will get a lot of practice and get it perfect.
how do you know it wasn’t designed like that? i thought some missiles are designed to detonated above the target, while others are designed to penetrate the target first before detonation. i dunno, you could be right. just saying, but i’m sure the designers know what they’re doing.
the most infamous missile designed to detonate high above a target is a nuclear icbm, that with its hemp blast will permanently fry all electronics within a thousand mile radius.
very good. don’t stop with just one.
putin shit his pants again…heheheh
me thinks zelensky is pooing his pants… his western handlers are now actively talking about removing him. not much time left…
so what?
i shit my pants all the time…it’s not a big deal.
is your name joe biden, by any chance?
you know i always knew that western lgbt were a big supporter of ukraine, but that guy’s name takes it to a new level.
why is not used in dniper bridges is a mystery
easier to kill nazis when they come running to you close to home turf. working great so far.
in march of last year forbes magazine (david axe) said that this bomb was massive overkill and that russia proably didn’t have any plane capable of carrying it. you could hear the belly-laughs coming from the kremlin as far away as st petersburg…..
if it destroyed the bridge, why don’t we get to see that ?
it was a russian built bridge. they’re hard to destroy.
ussr reglaments of building have standards to survive in nuclear war: factories have deep basements or even bunkers, large civilian buildings – big basements, bridges have sturdy marks of concrete and additional reserves of durability. to ruin 1-2-3 sections of a bridge is not enough to destroy construction. any bridge is repairable until its pillars not broken.
it blew away an entire lane and then some (big hole). however, the impact was a meter or two away from a support column, and hence the span still stands and bridge is mostly functional. i suspect this is a little bit of weapons testing, to see if a fab3000 is sufficient to sever support columns. as for accuracy, splat in the middle, 100% accurate.
in the middle video, what were the other one or two smaller projectiles that were flying/exploding nearby? a tracer to simulate an unguided bomb?
i would say it was “geranium”, “gerbera” or “lightning” to distract aad from main target. they created a blast too, so it’s not only decoy or tracer.
this was needed two years ago, but it’s now time to start stemming the advance of the uaf into the east.
dnieper river is natural barrier nato fools think they can hold this boarder in their dreams . russia may not agree .
i always thought the russians would fight up to the dneiper. the advantages of natural borders.
