The private residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was hit on October 19 in a suspected Hezbollah drone attack.
Three suicide drones launched from Lebanon targeted Caesarea, where the private residence is located. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that two of the drones were intercepted but the third managed to hit a “building” in the coastal town, which is located some 40 kilometers to the north of the city of Tel Aviv.
As a result of the drone attack, warning sirens also sounded in Glilot, a northern suburb of Tel Aviv, according to the military.
Later, the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that Netanyahu’s private residence in Caesarea was struck. However, it said that the primer and his wife, Sara, were not home at the time of the drone attack and that there were no casualties in the strike.
A video posted to social networks showed an AH-64 Apache attack helicopter of the IDF chasing after a drone over Caesarea during the attack.
Another video showed a large gathering of first responders, including medics, at the entrance of what appeared to be a gated compound in the town.
The drone attack was apparently an attempt on the life of Netanyahu. Hezbollah has not claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
Earlier this week, the Lebanese group vowed to escalate its operations against Israel after the IDF killed the top leader of the Palestinian Hamas Movement in the Gaza Strip. The group had also threatened a severe response following the Israeli assassination of its own Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah last month.
The IDF could intensify its operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon in response to the attack. So far, over 2,400 people have been killed by Israeli strikes on the country.
