Some 20 people were injured in a brawl between around 200 Afghans and Sudanese in the “Jungle” refugee camp in the northern French port of Calais on May 26.

At least 1 person was shot and several others suffered knife and baton wounds during the melee. Several shelters were set on fire.

“Around 20 migrants, three volunteers and a police officer were injured in a brawl between Afghans and Sudanese. The reason for the fight has not yet been determined,” France24 cites the regional authority’s statement.

According to reports, the brawl started as food was being distributed at the Jules-Ferry aid centre. Police used tear gas to break up the fight.

We remember about 5,000 inhabitants live in the camp.
