In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian forces are expanding their control in Prymorske and Stepnohirsk, reinforcing their presence and attempting to advance toward Kamianske, where the formation of a wedge toward Zaporizhzhia began last year. In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian units launched a counterattack in the Kotlyne area, using an uncleared pocket between Hryshyne and Kotlyne to strike Russian positions with massive drone support. In the Sumy region, Russian “North” grouping’s assault groups advanced 400 meters and repelled a counterattack by the Ukrainian 210th Assault Regiment; in the Krasnopillia district, they advanced up to 1,400 meters. In the Kharkiv direction, Russian assault groups cleared forested areas near Pishchane and destroyed virtually the entire second company of the Ukrainian 159th Brigade during its attempt to cross the Vovcha River; they also advanced up to 700 meters toward Velykyi Burluk. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán called Ukraine a terrorist state, stating that Hungary will not succumb to blackmail and will continue to block EU financial support for Kyiv.
Pokrovsk Direction
In the direction of Pokrovsk, Ukrainian units attempted a breakthrough, taking advantage of the incomplete clearance of the sector between Hryshyne and Kotlyne. With significant drone support, they advanced along the flanks of the 51st and 2nd Armies, from the highway to the Kovalykha and Matyushyna ravines. Near the M-30 highway, in the area of the tree plantations, small groups of Ukrainian troops from Kamenka are gathering and attacking Russian positions near the highway and railway leading to Krasnoarmiysk. Russian troops continue their offensive, repelling Ukrainian attempts to infiltrate their battle formations.
There has also been a transfer of small groups from Kamenka along the E-50 highway and the adjacent tree line and railway. Russian units are holding the defense and repelling attacks. Thus, the Ukrainian side is trying to draw away Russian troops and create additional obstacles to their advance towards Dobropillia. North of Kotlyne is a mine that was previously contested and represents a well-fortified position for Ukrainian troops.
Russian troops advanced from Molodetske towards Novopidhorodne, and fighting for the village continues. Clashes also continue for the tree lines north of Molodetske. Ukrainian troops in small groups occasionally pass through Udachne, where Russian drone operators destroy them. Northeast of Hryshyne, Russian troops have straightened the front line along the road and are advancing north while clearing tree plantations.
Sumy Direction
In the Sumy region, the “North” grouping’s assault groups continue to fight fiercely, advancing deeper into the area. Russian troops struck Ukrainian unit personnel and equipment concentrations in Vilna Sloboda, Bublykove, Ivolzhanske, Khrapivshchyna, Bitytsia, and Khotyn areas. Assault groups advanced on eighteen sections in the Sumy district and two in the Hlukhiv district. The total advance over the day amounted to 400 meters.
The Ukrainian command is attempting to stop the Russian advance in the Shostka district by moving reserves from the rear. Ukrainian units attempted a counterattack against an assault group from the 210th Separate Assault Regiment, but most of their personnel were killed in the ensuing firefight.
The Ukrainian command continues to transfer reserves from rear areas to the Sumy district. Recently mobilized soldiers from the 47th and 158th Separate Mechanized Brigades were transferred to this sector of the front over the past day. Fire engagements were carried out against concentrations of personnel, resulting in significant losses. In the Krasnopillia district, Russian assault detachments overpowered Ukrainian units and advanced 1,400 meters.
Kharkiv Direction
In the Kharkiv region, assault units of the 69th Motorized Rifle Division of the 6th Army cleared forested areas in the Pishchane area during fierce fighting. Russian troops struck concentrations of Ukrainian personnel and equipment in Ternova, Izbitske, Verkhnya Pysarivka, Bilyi Kolodiaz, and Velyka Babka.
In the Vovchansk area, assault groups advanced up to 350 meters along eight fronts. Analysis of data on losses confirms that Ukrainian units of the 159th Separate Mechanized Brigade suffered significant losses when attempting to cross the Vovcha River between Volokhivka and Bochkove. Virtually the entire second company of the first battalion of the 159th Brigade is listed as missing in this sector. Ukrainian forces are attempting a counterattack in the Vovchansk sector in an effort to halt the advance of Russian troops and engage them in battle north of the Vovcha River.
In the Bochkove area, between Vovchanski Khutory and Pishchane, the 1st Battalion of the 159th Brigade attempted to establish a bridgehead for a counteroffensive on the northern riverbank. The second company of the battalion crossed the river between Volokhivka and Bochkove and attempted to consolidate its position north of Bochkove. During deployment and crossing, the company was struck multiple times, resulting in its virtual destruction.
In the direction of Velykyi Burluk, Russian assault groups advanced up to 700 meters on three sections during fierce fighting. Radiation, chemical, and biological defense crews attacked a strongpoint of the 1st Separate Territorial Defense Brigade in the Shevyakivka area with flamethrowers. To the northwest, Russian units advanced south of Pishchane and captured the positions of Ukrainian units on the slopes of the heights. Fighting continues for Nesterne.
Russian troops are advancing in the recently captured area of Pishchane and in sectors where small-group fighting has been ongoing for a long time. Along the Hrafskoho–Symonivka line, Russian units advanced along the Siverskyi Donets River bank and captured the Sosnova Hirka recreational complex. The fighting continues to shift towards Verkhnya Pysarivka.
There are also ongoing small-group clashes for Vovchanski Khutory on the eastern flank. Russian assault units have advanced into the central part of the settlement. The Chuhunivka–Ambarné–Dvorichanske line remains stable, with no reports of advances from either side. Overall, Russian units are focusing their main efforts on systematically expanding control zones along the state border without making large-scale breakthroughs deep into the defense. These tactics allow them to operate with relatively small forces while simultaneously establishing observation posts to suppress Ukrainian activity in the border zone.
Zaporizhzhia Direction
Ukrainian units have published footage from Prymorske and Stepnohirsk indicating an expansion of their control zone in the area. Attacks continue, and reports are coming in of reinforcements being transferred to advance the offensive. This suggests that the Ukrainian command has not abandoned plans to reach Kamyanske, where the offensive towards Zaporizhzhia began last year.
The advance toward Pavlivka is concerning because, after Ukrainian units attacked Stepnohirsk, it remains in a suspended state. Supply routes are subject to drone strikes, and ground movement access is extremely complicated. The Ukrainian side’s accumulated reserves in the Zaporizhzhia region hinder the Russian troops’ offensive.
In the northern sector, Russian troops have eliminated most of the Ukrainian units’ wedges; however, a zone where small groups remain is present. After regrouping, Ukrainian units have not abandoned their attempts to push Russian troops back to the Dnipropetrovsk regional border and are deploying new small groups on foot and in vehicles.
Beyond the Haichur River on the western flank, fierce fighting continues. Ukrainian units are trying to push Russian troops out of the bridgehead beyond the river with composite assault regiments. Fighting continues in the Ternovate area, where the Ukrainian forces are focused on recaptured positions along the Haichur line.
The situation remains complex in the areas of Rozhdestvenske and Vozdvizhevka. Ukrainian units are conducting frequent counterattacks, and heavy fighting is ongoing. Attacks continue toward Huliaipole. Ukrainian units are attempting to infiltrate small groups between Staroukrainka and Zheleznodorozhne. To the south, Russian units maintain the initiative. Forward assault groups have reached the built-up area of Myrne and are fighting on the approaches to Huliaipilske.
The situation across the entire area remains extremely tense. The Ukrainian side has concentrated significant forces and almost the entire composition of its assault regiments on the southern fronts. Against the backdrop of intensified mobilization measures, Ukrainian units have the ability to not only maintain pressure for an extended period, but also increase it in multiple directions.
Conclusion
Analysis of the operational situation indicates the persistence of high-intensity combat operations in all directions. In the Pokrovsk area, Ukrainian forces are using uncleared sectors and drones to pin down Russian troops advancing toward Dobropillia and conducting counterattacks in the Kotlyne and Hryshyne areas. In the Sumy area, the “North” grouping is advancing systematically, expanding the buffer zone and countering Ukrainian attempts to transfer reserves, including “elite” units, which are sustaining heavy losses. In the Kharkiv area, Russian troops have cleared the forested areas near Pishchane and destroyed a company of the 159th Brigade while attempting to cross the Vovcha. They have demonstrated their ability to inflict serious losses on Ukrainian formations and advance towards Velykyi Burluk. In the Burluk area, advancing along the Siverskyi Donets and consolidating in the central part of Vovchanski Khutory creates conditions for further expanding control along the border. In the Zaporizhzhia sector, Ukrainian forces are expanding their control in Prymorske and Stepnohirsk. They are transferring reinforcements and threatening to reach Kamyanske, which could alter the operational configuration of this area.
An important event in the international political context was the statement by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. Speaking at a campaign event in Esztergom, Orbán called Ukraine a terrorist state, citing the explosion of Nord Stream, the halt of gas transit, the oil blockade, and the daily shelling of the gas pipeline through which Hungary receives gas from the south. Orbán stated that Hungary will not succumb to terror and will never allow blackmail. For this reason, the Hungarian government has decided to cut off gas supplies to Ukraine and will continue to block EU financial support for Kyiv until Russian oil transits via the Druzhba pipeline again. This statement demonstrates Budapest’s further hardening position. Hungary consistently uses economic and political levers to protect its national interests, increasing pressure on Ukraine during a critical period.
