On September 15, the Yemeni Air Force [loyal to the Houthis] announced that it had targeted several gatherings of Saudi-led coalition troops in the northern Yemeni province of al-Jawf with Qasif-1 suicide unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

According to a report of the Conflict Armament Research (CAR) group, the Qasef-1 is a copy of the Iranian-made “Ababil-2” UAV armed with 30kg warhead. The Yemeni Air Force manufactured dozens of UAVs of this type since 2017.

From its side, the Yemeni Missiles Force, another ally of the Houthis, launched a Badir-1 artillery rocket at the economic city in the southern Saudi province of Jizan. Experts believe that the Badir-1,  which was revealed on March 22, is in fact a locally-made copy of the Iranian-made Fajir-3.

“The ballistic missile [badir-1] hit its target accurately and caused material damage inside the targeted strategic facility,” a source in the Yemeni Missiles Force told the al-Masirah TV.

Minutes after the Yemeni Missiles Force announcement, Colonel Turki al-Malaki a spokesman of the Saudi-led coalition, stated that the Royal Saudi Air Defense Force (RSAD) tracked and intercepted a “ballistic missile” of the Houthis, which was heading towards Jizan. The rocket was reportedly launched from the northern Yemeni province of Saada.

A day earlier, the Yemeni Air Force and Missiles Force carried out a similar attack on targets in western Yemen and southern Saudi Arabia.
