On October 10, Agriculture Minister in the Saudi-backed Yemeni government, Salem al-Socotri, and the Governor of the southern Yemeni province of Aden, Ahmed Lamles, survived an assassination attempt that left ten people dead or wounded.

A car bomb targeted the Yemeni officials’ motorcade as it was passing in al-Mualla street the center of Aden city. Al-Socotri and Lamles survived the explosion. However, five people, including four of their bodyguards, were killed and five others were wounded.

Saudi-backed Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed has reportedly ordered an investigation into the assassination attempt.

Both al-Socotri and Lamles are known to be affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC), which is backed by the UAE.

No group has claimed responsibility for the assassination attempt, yet. Nevertheless, the STC accused the “Muslim Brotherhood” of orchestrating the attack and cooperating with the Houthis (Ansar Allah).

The STC was referring to the Yemeni Congregation for Reform, commonly known as al-Islah. The party which enjoys much influence in the Saudi-backed Yemeni government is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. The party has been in conflict with UAE-backed factions for the last few years.

The situation in Saudi-held Aden is far from being stable. Last month, the commander of Saudi-backed forces on al-Hazmiyah front in the central Yemeni province of al-Bayda was assassinated in the city.

See? Ansar Allah and Al Islah are cooperating! So I was correct in saying that Iran and Turkey also cooperate.
