Yemen peace talks in Kuwait delayed

Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the UN’s special envoy to Yemen

Today, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the UN’s special envoy to Yemen said in a statement that “due to developments over the last few hours, the start of the Yemeni-Yemeni peace negotiations scheduled to begin today… will be delayed.”

However, the talks in Kuwait aimed to bring an end to more than 13 months of fighting that have devastated impoverished Yemen. A week-old ceasefire was intended to pave the way for the peace talks but has repeatedly been broken.
