War Plans on Iran Mean Trump and Saudis Coordinating Cover-up of Khashoggi Killing

Written by Fnian Cunningham; Originally appeared on strategic-culture.org

Finally, nearly three weeks after what most of the world suspected to be a foul murder, the Saudi regime has officially admitted that Jamal Khashoggi was killed in its consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. No sooner had the Saudis issued their latest lie to cover up previous lies, US President Trump was lending White House prestige to the travesty.

Trump said the belated Saudi version of what happened was “credible”. He also welcomed as “good first steps” the Saudi arrest of 18 individuals and sacking of several top officials.

The Saudi “explanation” of Khashoggi’s death stretches credulity to snapping point. They are saying he was killed after a fist-fight broke out in the consulate. The Saudis are also claiming the de facto ruler of the kingdom, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS), did not know anything about the murder, its planning or aftermath. Recall that MbS asserted in an interview with Bloomberg on October 5 that Khashoggi had walked out of the consulate the same day he arrived.

War Plans on Iran Mean Trump and Saudis Coordinating Cover-up of Khashoggi Killing

Now the Crown Prince has been appointed by his father, aging King Salman, to head up a committee to oversee an overhaul of the royal court’s intelligence organization. The former deputy head of intelligence, Ahmed al-Assiri, is one of those senior aides who has been sacked and set to take the rap.

In other words, the heir to the throne, MbS, is being absolved of any responsibility in the scandal. The sacked aides and arrested men, who are believed to include the 15-member team that went to Istanbul to intercept Khashoggi, are being made the scapegoats.

It is customary Saudi treachery at work. There is simply no way that a 15-member team that included top bodyguards of the Crown Prince could have carried out the Khashoggi abduction and killing without the monarch’s knowledge and sanction.

US intelligence intercepts have claimed to show that MbS was indeed involved in the planning of Khashoggi’s doom. It is simply preposterous that the 15-member hit squad went “rogue” and carried out a murder on their own initiative.

But President Trump and his Secretary of State Mike Pompeo appear to be coordinating with the House of Saud to project an alibi for the 33-year-old future king.

It was Trump who floated the idea last week of “rogue killers” being the culprits. Pompeo then flew to Riyadh where he held chummy photo-ops with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and King Salman. The top US diplomat ludicrously commended the Saudi “commitment” to a “transparent investigation” into what happened in Istanbul.

Now that the Saudis have finally admitted the killing, while denying the Crown Prince’s involvement, Trump is saying that such a patent lie is “credible”.

What’s more, the treachery in the House of Saud will likely involve the killing of the scapegoats to ensure they never talk about the plot against Khashoggi.

One of the 15-man hit squad has already been killed in a suspicious car accident in Riyadh last week. Mashal Saad al Bostani (31) was a Saudi Royal Air Force lieutenant who was identified by Turkish intelligence as being among the group that lay in wait at the consulate for Khashoggi. Turkish media have speculated that the House of Saud has begun destroying evidence and potential witnesses. Watch, in particular, the fate of the former Consul General in Istanbul, Mohammed al Otaibi.

The notion, according to the Saudis, that a fight broke out in the consulate leading to Khashoggi’s death does not tally with reports that the 15-man team was equipped with a bone saw. Turkish intelligence sources also say they have audio tapes showing Khashoggi was immediately assaulted on entering the consulate, then tortured by having his fingers cut off, before finally being decapitated and his body dismembered.

If the Saudi “explanation” is considered, then where is Khashoggi’s remains? If his death was somehow an accident, then the Saudis should be able to present his corpse. But they won’t because the far more credible account is that Khashoggi’s remains would testify to torture and mutilation.

Let’s also bear in mind the routine nature of treachery in the House of Saud, especially under the new Crown Prince. When he was made heir to the throne in 2017, the then incumbent Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef was unceremoniously sidelined. It was a power grab that broke Saudi succession rules. Video footage at the time showed MbS feigning an act of humility and contrition to the ousted Bin Nayef, his older cousin. MbS was seen bending down to kiss the leg of the hapless former Crown Prince, in what appeared to be a show of magnanimity.

Within weeks of the ouster, it was then reported that Bin Nayef had been placed under continual house arrest by MbS with armed guards. The move was to ensure there would not be a counter-coup.

Next the new Crown Prince ordered the round-up and detention of several other senior House of Saud figures. Some of them were reportedly tortured and extorted for billions of dollars to buy their release.

MbS’s penchant for abduction then went overseas when he ordered the kidnapping of Lebanese Prime Minister Said Hariri. Hariri was reportedly slapped around while in detention in Riyadh before being forced to announce his “resignation” in a bizarre TV interview. An intervention by French President Emmanuel Macron, who was friendly with MbS, managed to secure Hariri’s release, and he reversed his resignation on returning to Lebanon.

These are just some examples of the Saudi Crown Prince’s nature as a psychopathic tyrant who thinks he can act with impunity. The image of a “reformist” monarch had been built up by the Western media and leaders like Macron and Trump. But that image is totally at odds with reality, as the Western media are slowly being forced now to admit after the barbarous killing of Khashoggi.

US media and many Republican and Democrat lawmakers in Congress are skeptical about the latest Saudi “explanation” for the death of Khashoggi.

Other Western governments seem also to be adopting a tougher line, with Britain, France and Germany withdrawing diplomatic contacts.

Trump also lately said there “will be severe consequences” after the Saudis admitted Khashoggi’s death in their consulate. But the lucrative multi-billion arms trade is off-limits for Trump if any sanctions are imposed.

The White House’s solemn rhetoric is belied, however, by Trump’s willingness to dignify the absurd Saudi response as “credible”. The whitewashing of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman – the undoubted author of Khashoggi’s execution – is being given crucial gloss from the Trump administration.

Apart from the lucrative arms trade and Trump’s own personal enrichment from years of doing property business with the House of Saud, the other vital interest for the US is its reliance on the Saudis for the coming war with Iran. Trump said so himself when he tried to excuse not imposing sanctions on Saudi Arabia by saying the country was “an important counter to Iran”.

In the next few weeks, the Trump administration is set to impose a global oil embargo on Iranian exports of crude. For the economic war to succeed, Washington needs the Saudis to ramp up oil supply in order to replace the anticipated Iranian shortfall and to prevent world market prices from soaring.

The imperative of US aggression towards Iran by Trump means that he has to, by sheer necessity, shore up the House of Saud. That means spinning a cover-up to absolve the Crown Prince. But such is the damning evidence against MbS over Khashoggi’s murder, the Trump media charade on behalf of the Saudis may prove to fall apart. For the sake of peace in the Middle East, we might hope so too.

I think Iran is off the radar atm. looks like they are gonna do a yemen to palestinians. if the world let them get away with yemen. They will do it with gaza. Comments sections in loads of outlets are just saying ‘muh, palestine islam’. Saying never was such a state called palestine,. Massive support for Israel against ‘all muslims’.

Iran are only going to make steps that Russia has already agreed with, including refusal to leave Syria unless the president or syrian government requests it.

Promitheas Apollonious

the world…….. whose the world and why you think Iran, is off the radar as you put it?

Red Pilled ThoughtCrimes

Iran is off the radar for now because its a cycle, Iran comes up, then it goes away then it comes up then it goes away, Israel are atm unable to ‘hit iran by bombing syria’ and they certainly are not going to invade iran. There isnt a plausible reason to sell an iran conflict to the western public. nobody wants another iraq type war. Public opinion is turning against palestine tho. And yemen is predominantly a success for genocide. Even if most in yemen survive, It has been proven that you can keep a whole country on the verge of death and majority in the west do nothing, or are even aware of it. We dont even see mobile videos from yemen come out all that much.

Promitheas Apollonious

k I think you dont understand very well what is going on here and you think that the western public actually has a voice and decision making in what is happening. Let alone that most brainless europeans and americans think are heroic acts by their armed forces.

Red Pilled ThoughtCrimes

Western public doesnt have much say. 1m people marched against iraq in the UK. it still went ahead. And i got you telling me i think the western troops are heros, and in other conversations people tell me i am full of it for mentioning the USA many war crimes. Who is going to attack Iran? UK has no armed forces left, pushing towards EU Military Unification. ME are not about to attack iran, iraq and Turkey both get on with Iran. Difference being now is Russian weaponry is stopping other ME countries from having to bow down to the US Foreign Policy of a big military stick. USA cannot go into war with Iran by itself, Iran has too many allies
Even USA sanctions (an economic weapon) are being circumnavigated by the EU.

USA would have to keep the fight going in afghanistan and protect saudi territory

Saudi have been told to wind their necks in

Somalia is where the next mess is going to be, they are already evacuating the fighting age males out of there through gimmegration while shipping ISIS into it. SDF brand is building loads of terrorists. and those assets will be liquidated in Syria or moved

Red Pilled ThoughtCrimes

They did sell the iraq war, thats why they could ignore 1 million people, enough of the population arguing with them that it was right to invade iraq. people knew and accepted the illegality of that because they believed in the evils of saddam. They cannot sell another war like that in Iran.

they can sell a genocide in gaza tho. They already have with yemen

Promitheas Apollonious

i dont disagree with what they did in Iraq, with you, but times have changed you just remained in the same mentality as in the 90s. Then they was thinking they are super powers and none could oppose them as well that they actually, established global control in all areas.

Today they are ruined financially and what is left to them is either creating a global war or implode and be erased from the history books. As for people… they dont matter especially as far western NWO is concerned unless they need them for their wars. Other than that keep thinking as you do and you be in for a very big surprise that will not be pleasant.

Red Pilled ThoughtCrimes

yeah, globalism is losing, there will be no NWO.

Promitheas Apollonious

NWO already it is established in most of europe and 100% established in US and the rest of the colonies.

So globalization as they planned it, is failing yes, but not their NWO among the sheep they have under their jurisdiction. I dont know how old you are, but I can tell, you missed a lot of chapters in what is going on around the world and reality.

Red Pilled ThoughtCrimes

you asssume that the things you are telling me i do not already know, globalism is being rejected all over the world, of course washington dc, vatican and city of london still hold their power. do f off now, its as if you are not even reading what i type

Promitheas Apollonious

I assume nothing. I respond to your posts as you write them and you missing what you been told. I dont know if you do it intentionally or out of reaction. But someone who believe trumpet to be a savior among thinking people and ones who know dont have much respect for what he think he knows. Since the King Faisal Assassination,

the KSA can’t lift a single finger without the CIA orders !

No Saudi Oil = Valueless Dollars = Weak US !

Rob

The Washington, England and Saudi regimes had planned to blackmail Turkey by butchering Jamal Khashuggi but plan failed very badely. Now Turkey don’t accept Saudi statement and Turkey would demand for Saudi regime change.

Chaplin

No wonder Saudi led effort against Houthis is pathetic at best. As a Saudi soldier i wouldnt want to risk my neck for this kind of monarch either. Im expecting more kicking Saudi ass by Houthis news in the coming days.

Garga

As we say, Khoshoggi affair is a stick with $hit on either side for MbS, wherever he touches it, there’s $hit.:

– If they admit he gave the order, bye bye throne and all the planning and conspiracies.
– If they claim he’s innocent and sacrifice a few patsies, servants who served him faithfully mind you, how do you think it will affect their other servants? Will they be willing to kill, murder, maim, steal and lie on his behalf? They might, but not without covering their own bottoms, gathering evidence as much as they can in case a similar fate like al-Assiri, al-Otaibi or worst, al-Bostani is waiting for them.

Nobody expected Trump to act against Saudis’ crimes, but his fierce defence of them makes way for a much louder and harder fall.
Are we lucky to have such stupid enemies like Trump and MbS?

AlexanderAmproz

The question is what’s the US/Israeli roadmap ?

MbS arrested, and Sequestered all assets from the kingdom main VIP,
the job to neutralized KSA is done, living MbS without support,
and an afraid population…

A Middle East destruction planification continuity !

Garga

I think not. That’s not going to happen as long as a Saudi puppet rules over Arabia and Iran doesn’t bow to the US.

If it hits the fan, all they will do is a change of facade which is very long overdue.

Last year I used to think they’d do it with ascension of MbS to the throne, condemning the ruler before him, blaming Yemen atrocities and backing Wahhabi terrorists on Salman and kings before him, claiming MbS will open a new chapter for a “moderate” and “reformed” Saudi Arabia.

Turned out I was wrong and MbS doesn’t hide how deranged and ruthless he is, but they might do it with someone else, his brother KbS perhaps (which is called from the US embassy to be present in the meeting with Pompeo) or even bring back his cousin Bin Nayef, the former crown prince.

AlexanderAmproz

CHUCKMAN

Yes, most of this is spot-on.

But the Saudi Killer Prince means more to Washington than just possible war with Iran.

He is in effect their “sleeper agent” in Saudi Arabia, and Israel’s killers love him. He’s their kind of Arab Prince.

And oil prices are certainly not the only serious threat that Saudi Arabia has in its arsenal to use against pressure on them.

There’s the vast new arms deals at risk.

The Saudis showed by purchasing the S-400 air defence system from Russia that they have no problem switching towards Russia as a major supplier.

The Saudis also could offer a lease for a military base in the Kingdom.

Snowglobe

As far as I can tell, there is no body, and no audio tape released by Turkey. There appears to be no evidence and no proof that this murder took place. All the rest seems to be reactions based on rumor.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

chris chuba

LOL.
1. Khashoggi entered the Saudi consulate with his fiance waiting outside at 10:30am and never emerged (she waited until 1am).
2. Even the Saudis admit that he ‘died’ after a fistfight after claiming that he left the compound.

We do not need Turkey’s audio tape to prove that a murder took place in the compound. This alone is more evidence of a murder done by Saudi officials than anything done by Putin who we routinely call a murderer.

IMO there is an outside chance that the Turks might be willing to take a bribe from the Saudis, a very large bribe, to not release the audio tape be even without it we know that a murder did indeed take place.

Snowglobe

Okay, no Turkish audio tape to worry about because the Saudi’s said so.

That still leaves the body. Did they lose it?

I have seen people get off of murder charges even with mountains of hearsay evidence because a body could not be produced.

What we are talking about here is exponentially more important that a domestic murder. HUGE international decisions/judgments are going to be made based on the evidence.

No, we do not know that a murder took place. They guy could have been whisked out of the embassy and is in protective custody somewhere for all we know.

Basically, we know nothing.

Nod

except the murderer confessed….confessions still count in the fascist world we live in right ?.

Snowglobe

Yes, confessions count for something. It counts as a one way ticket to a jail cell, but that does not mean that you have the murderer, or even that a murder was committed. Having a dead body laying around makes the second part of that equation easier.

I have a tad of knowledge of how gangs work. Occasionally someone has to die, and occasionally someone has to pay the consequences/price for it.

Frequently the people that take the fall for serious crimes are considered expendables. They are low ranking members who do the time and leave more important members operational.

I think that it is within the realm of possibility that the Saudi’s operate at minimum, the same level as HA.

Nod

From my perspective, this is distraction and disinformation.

These head choppers are also terrorists, alongside the USA, Canada, Israel, U.K, France and any other country openly supporting globalism.

One guy? Who cares right ? I don’t. We don’t have a free press any more than Saudi Arabia has. Ours is bought and paid for.

inequality = violence. And this is why the above mentioned globalist terrorists will bring the nukes or the weaponized biologics to the game, before the fat man finally sings adieu too the failed chimp experiment that is us.

. IMHO.

We have murdered around 2 million Muslims since 911, most lived on the biggest oil patch on the planet. We did that because our governments fed us a story about 911 that contravenes science.

And the fluoridated herd ate it up. And that is why fluoride, is in our water.

Snowglobe

We agree!

English Translation of Udo Ulfkotte’s “Bought Journalists” Suppressed?

By James F. Tracy

Global Research, July 31, 2017

Region: Europe, USA

Theme: Intelligence, Media Disinformation

The English translation of German journalist Udo Ulfkotte’s best-selling book, Gekaufte Journalisten (Bought Journalists) appears to have been suppressed throughout North America and Europe. On May 15, 2017 Next Revelation Press, an imprint of US-Canadian-based publisher Tayen Lane, released the English version of Bought Journalists, under the title, Journalists for Hire: How the CIA Buys the News.

Tayen Lane has since removed any reference to the title from its website. Correspondingly Amazon.com indicates the title is “currently unavailable,” with opportunities to purchase from independent sellers offering used copies for no less than $1309.09. The book’s subject matter and unexplained disappearance from the marketplace suggest how powerful forces are seeking to prevent its circulation.

Gekaufte Journalisten was almost completely ignored by mainstream German news media following its release in 2014. “No German mainstream journalist is allowed to report about [my] book,” Ulfkotte observed. “Otherwise he or she will be sacked. So we have a bestseller now that no German journalist is allowed to write or talk about.”{1]

Along these lines, publication of the English translation was repeatedly delayed. When this author contacted Ulfkotte in early December 2015 to inquire on the book’s pending translation, he responded, “Please find the link to the English edition here,”

http://www.tayenlane.com/bought-journalists

The above address once providing the book’s description and anticipated publication date now leads to an empty page.[2] Tayen Lane has not responded to emails or telephone calls requesting an explanation for the title’s disappearance.

When a book publisher determines that it has acquired a politically volatile or otherwise “troublesome” title it may embark on a process recognized in the industry as “privishing.” “Privishing is a portmanteau meaning to privately publish, as opposed to true publishing that is open to the public,” writes investigative journalist Gerald Colby.

It is usually employed in the following context: “We privished the book so that it sank without a trace.” The mechanism used is simple: cut off the book’s life-support system by reducing the initial print run so that the book “cannot price profitably according to any conceivable formula,” refuse to do reprints, drastically slash the book’s advertising budget, and all but cancel the promotional tour.”[3]

Privishing often takes place without the author knowing, simply because it involves breach of contract and potential liability. Tayen Lane will likely not face any legal challenge in this instance, however. Ulfkotte died of a heart attack on January 13, 2017, at age 56.[4]

Udo Ulfkotte was a prominent European journalist, social scientist, and immigration reform activist. Upon writing Gekaufte Journalisten and becoming one of the most significant media industry and deep state whistleblowers in recent history, Ulfkotte complained of repeated home searches by German state police and expressed fear for his own life. He also admitted previous health complications stemming from witnessing a 1988 poisoned gas attack in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Ulfkotte’s testimony of how intelligence agencies figure centrally in Western journalism is especially compelling because he for many years functioned in the higher echelons of mainstream newsworkers. The German journalist explains how he was recruited during the 1980s to work in espionage. This began through an invitation proffered by his graduate school advisor for an all-expense-paid trip to attend a two-week seminar on the Cold War conflict in Bonn.

Editor of Major German Newspaper Says He Planted Stories for the CIA

After Ulfkotte obtained his doctorate he was given a job as a reporter at “the leading conservative German newspaper, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, oddly appointed despite no journalistic training and hundreds of other applicants. Serving as a correspondent throughout the Middle East, Ulfkotte eventually became acquainted with agents from the CIA, German intelligence agency Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND), Britain’s MI6, and Israel’s Mossad, all of whom valued his ability to travel freely in countries largely closed to the West. His editors readily collaborated in such intelligence gathering operations,”[5] for which journalist possess “non-official cover” by virtue of their profession.

“Non-official cover” occurs when a journalist is essentially working for the CIA, but it’s not in an official capacity,” Ulfkotte explains. “This allows both parties to reap the rewards of the partnership, while at the same time giving both sides plausible deniability. The CIA will find young journalists and mentor them. Suddenly doors will open up, rewards will be given, and before you know it, you owe your entire career to them. That’s essentially how it works.”[6] He likewise ruefully admits to “publishing articles under my own name written by agents of the CIA and other intelligence services, especially the German secret service.”[7]

Ulfkotte’s insider knowledge of the relationship between mainstream media and the intelligence community has special relevance in terms of informing the CIA’s antipathy toward Wikileaks, as well as the media campaign centering on the Trump administration’s alleged “ties to Russia,” while also lending credence to Trump’s frequent claims of the US media’s political biases and deep state ties. Indeed, Ulfkotte “Tweeted” about these very subjects just two days before he passed.

Ulfkotte’s explosive revelations still have the potential to further intensify the much-deserved scrutiny corporate news media presently face. In a society that pays more than lip service to freedom of thought and expression Journalists for Hire would be required reading for college students—and particularly those studying in journalism programs intending to seek employment in the media industries.

In fact, journalism professors, some of whom have migrated to the academy following long careers at renowned news outlets, possess similar insider knowledge of the relationships Ulfkotte readily explains. As both journalists and educators they have a twofold burden of responsibility. This is the case more so than ever because the entire professional and intellectual enterprise they are engaged in (and one directly linked to the nation’s accelerating civic deterioration) has been made a farce. Journalists for Hire’s suppression suggests how Ulfkotte’s posthumous censors refuse for this important examination and cleansing to proceed.

“There is simply no way that a 15-member team that included top

Really? Where there is a will there is a way.
To solve this mystery, we need to search for the “will”, i.e., motivation. May I suggest Salman’s deals with Putin to by buy S400 air defense and Russian nuclear power reactors and economic negotiations with China? Might US actors be calculating that a manufactured crisis of this sort might provide a opportunity for Trump to gain some serious gratitude/leverage in exchange for vocal support for MBS against the coordinated assault of the MSM? A plot of this sort would have enthusiastic support among the Saudi royalty imprisoned, humiliated and robbed in a Riyad hotel by MBS not so long ago. Need I point out that the usual response to the murder of a virtually unknown expatriate Saudi citizen in Istanbul would warrant, at best, 3 paragraphs on page 12 of the NYT?

As always, the public is being played like a fiddle.
