The Shura Council of Mujahideen in Derna have downed a MiG-23 fighter let belonging to the Libyan National rmy (LNA) with a Soviet man-portable infrared homing surface-to-air missile, 9K38 Igla.
Derna is the last city in eastern Libya that is not controlled by the LNA. The Agyptian Air Force have bombed this city several times because Cairo believes that this group poses a threat to the Egyptian security. The Shura Council of Mujahideen allegedly holds training camps for elements that than conduct terrorist attacks in Egypt.
