US May Launch Drone Strikes Campaign Against ISIS In Philippines

The Pentagon is considering a plan to launch air campaign against ISIS in the Philippines, the US media reported citing defense officials.

The authority to strike ISIS targets as part of collective self-defense could be granted as part of an official military operation that may be named as early as Tuesday, said the officials. The strikes would likely be conducted by armed drones.

If approved, the U.S. military would be able to conduct strikes against ISIS targets in the Philippines that could be a threat to allies in the region, which would include the Philippine forces battling ISIS on the ground in the country’s southern islands,” NBC News’ report reads.

The US already has a ground presence in the area of Marawi where Philippine security forces are combating ISIS.

The group of the US Special Operations Forces joined the battle against ISIS in Marawi. The  group is named the Joint Special Operations Task Force Trident and provides technical assistance.

According to US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, the US provides Philippine forces with “intelligence capabilities” in the ongoing fight against ISIS. This support includes “some recent transfers of a couple of Cessnas and a couple of UAVs (drones) to allow to them to have better information with which to conduct the fight down there.”

Hospitals, schools, wedding parties and funeral sevice gatherings, beware, when the US drones are in the air.

Serious

“the US provides Philippine forces with “intelligence capabilities””. XD

So, the philippine government will not be able to know what really happens.

Ma_Laoshi

I often disagree with you and your sectarian preoccupations but yes, if the Filipinos are at all serious they’ll have to solve this problem themselves. You only get to be called a developing country if you actually make progress.

Like I’ve said so many times. Sunnis are USA best useful idiots. That’s exactly why USA is flooding Europe with the aliens. So that Europe will always be a US puppet. They can use these stupid people to terrorize Europe and bring martial state to control and monitor the people.

Serious

That’s why never bring sunnis into your country.

Duterte, such an hypocrit. He spend his time blaming USA. And then guess who is inviting to “fight ISIS” ? XD.

Duterte a fake strong. What don’t you get rid of US military bases ? Because you are such an hypocrit.

northerntruthseeker .

Are you sure he “invited” the US into the Philippines? The US wants regime change in the Philippines, and their excuse to send in drones is this fraud “ISIS”….

jade villaceran

The Philippines army did not give permission to the us to conduct aerial strikes.

About us military staying in the Philippines, duterte cannot do it in just one flick of his finger, there is a law that prohibit him to oust us military and bases in the philippines. And if he did that, usa will make a move to impeach him just like the two president who are against the usa policy in the country namely ferdinand marcos and joseph estrada

Implied in what you say is that Pinoy politicians are cheap enough for the US to buy them in bulk. I have no reason to believe you are wrong in this. Sadly, little will change as long as this continues to be the case. Little comfort that things aren’t much different in “developed” countries.

This situation is just downright ridiculous. The battle for Marawi started on May 23rd! It looks like the Filipino military, with the US Special Forces, will eventually allow the enemy militants to escape so they are a never ending enemy. This will a good excuse for Uncle Stupid to become more involved. What a sick, demented way to fight a war.

Ma_Laoshi

Seems that this largely happened already, many of the militants got out by mixing in with the refugees–why invent new tricks when the old ones work so well.

Ma_Laoshi

The way this is being announced it sounds like a sovereign American decision. Are the Filipinos any closer to figuring out that they’ll *never* solve their terrorist problem until they boot out the Americans? Sometimes it seems as if Duterte has his head on straight, but much of the time he looks like a loudmouth who thought he could take on the US without thinking through the consequences. No wonder he feels some kinship with Donald Trump.

Nigel Maund

Well said and I fear correct!

Cheryl Brandon

I hope the Filipinos could take down as many USA Imperial drones as possible!

Ronald

Looks to me that this is the new plan to take out Duterte , drones to take out ISIS is the cover story .
