On July 14, the US-led coalition artillery shelled several positions of ISIS inside and around the towns of Hajin, al-Shaafah and al-Susah on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside, according to Syrian pro-opposition sources.
A day earlier, multiple sources reported that warplanes of the US-led coalition killed more than 50 civilians, including women and children, in al-Susah and the village of al-Baghuz Fawqani.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that the US-led coalition deployed several units and heavy military equipment east of Hajin. The military equipment include armored vehicles, artillery pieces, heavy rocket launchers and attack helicopters.
According to a previse report of the pro-opposition monitoring group, the US-led coalition and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are planning to launch an offensive with the aim of eliminating the remaining positions of ISIS along the eastern bank of the Euphrates River.
Currently, more than 1,000 fighters and commanders of ISIS are hiding in Hajin and several other villages. Observers believe that these fighters may resist the the upcoming offensive for a long time, as they are highly experienced and well-armed.
