The US-led coalition announced in an official statement released on December 27, that it and one of the Free Syrian Army groups, Maghawir al-Thawra (MaT), launched a joint military operation against several positions of ISIS in the Hama desert around the al-Tanaf base on December 23.

“The combined operations are a result of many hours of planning, building trust and close cooperation between Coalition Special Operations Forces and the MaT,” said Major General James Jarrard, commander of the Special Operations Joint Task Force in the US-led coalition.

During the operation, MaT fighters secured several caves that had been used by ISIS to store weapons, explosives and communications equipment around al-Tanaf, according to the statement. Moreover, the coalition revealed that ISIS had used these positions in the Hama desert to move to and from the Euphrates Valley.

The US-led coalition statement confirms that ISIS maintains presence in the al-Tanaf area right under its eyes, just as Russia and the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) said on many occasions. On October 23, the Hezbollah media wing in Syria even accused the US-led coalition of allowing ISIS to enter the SAA-held Al-Qaryatayn town in the southern Homs countryside.

The statement also confirms that the US-led coalition lied when it accused the SAA of allowing ISIS to move freely through its lines to attack al-Tanf base on December 13, as ISIS was already around the base, according to the US-led coalition itself.

As we say in Naples “Facimme ammuina!” :-D

Serious

What does it mean ?

FlorianGeyer

It means I suspect that the US is attempting to cover up her concealment of proxy ISIS gangs that were given a save haven in a US controlled area and that this Machiavellian theatre is an attempt to ‘discover ‘ and destroy the hideouts of their proxies.

Serious

Why do US need to cover up that ? The world knows about it.

FlorianGeyer

The world might well know BUT the bulk of the US and Western masses do not wish to accept the reality and ‘covering up ‘ US collusion with terrorists allows the charade to continue .

Its a classic ‘The Emperor has no clothes’ syndrome.

Facite ammuina (pronounced [ faɕiːtə ammui : nə] ) is a phrase from the Neapolitan dialect whose meaning is: ” make confusion “. This expression is often attributed to an alleged command contained in a non-existent “

Ridiculous and suspicious. The US and MaT have a presence in this area for over a year. How is it possible to still find ISIS in “caves” in this area. US and MaT their only action is ISIS and they have been cut off by the SAA from them for a couple months now. All they can do is pretend to arrest some lost ISIS members and take some military training on US tax payers. The US is just justifying their illegal presence in Syria by this.

Like IS took over Quaryatayn more than a year after it was “liberated” by SAA and being almost 200 kms from the nearest area where US had some unfluence?

PizzaPineapple

Results of a bad reconciliation deal between SAA and local population.

Денис Черкасов

It more looks like information campaign to justify US presence in Al-Tanf area.

Any pictures of prisoners or dead islamists? They seem to be rarer than unicorns nowadays.

Icarus Tanović

Or dead/wounded Americans?

gustavo

Really ? WOW, these photos show nothing at all about this statement.

Ronald

All of the photos of Al Tanaf area show flat desert , not likely to “find caves” .

“…many hours of planning…” maybe that’s why their schemes always fail so miserably. My garden is the result of many hours of planning. If I were launching a military operation that I viewed as more than a publicity stunt I’d spend at least a few weeks coming up with a strategy and contingencies. They’ve been sitting around for months since the base became superfluous for stated intent and they can only spend hours on a plan? Can’t they just take a break from raping refugees, or maybe have shifts where half can rape while the other half come up with something a bit more convincing than stock photos and grainy night vision shots that a professional bigfoot photographer would be proud of?
