On March 21, a US-led coalition air strike hit a car in the village of Darkoush in the Syrian province of Idlib, killing few members of the Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) terrorist group.
Abu Islam al-Masri, a high ranking military commander of HTS repotedly was among the killed militants.
Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham is the recently formed terrorist group which had been created after Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) absorbed a number of militant groups in the province of Idlib.
Recently, Jaysh al-Farouq, another “moderate group” affilated with the Free Syrian Army joined the HTS.
Thus, the al-Qaeda-linked radical Islamists officially became the leading political and military power among the so-called “Syrian opposition”.
Let’s hope they were right and that this does some good
