The (Houthi-backed) Yemeni army shot down another US MQ-9 combat drone over Yemen. This drone is the second American-made Reaper combat drone that has been shot down in the sky of Yemen in the last 72 hours.

On September 10, the Yemeni army spokesman, Brigade General Yahya Sarea said that the drone was shot down by Yemeni air defenses over the northern province of Saadah.

“This aircraft is the second that our air defenses have succeeded in shooting down within 72 hours. This is the ninth aircraft to be shot down during the Battle of the Promised Victory and the Holy Jihad in support of Gaza,” the spokesman said.

“The Yemeni Armed Forces confirm that they will continue to carry out their military operations until the aggression stops and the siege on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip is lifted,” he added.

The targeted drone is the 13th MQ-9 Reaper drone to be shot down during the Yemen war. Nine of the aircraft were shot down as part of the recent Yemeni operations in support of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip as well as in response to recent strikes on Yemen by the United States and the United Kingdom.

As the previous shoot down incident, the Houthis (Ansar Allah) released no pictures or video to support their claim, though such material can appear in the upcoming few days.

MQ-9 combat drones, which cost upwards of $30 million per a unit, are primarily used to collect intelligence, but have the ability to conduct pinpoint strikes. The advanced drones can operate for more than 27 hours and reach altitudes of over 25,000 feet.

Since November, the Houthis, who are backed by Iran, have attacked dozens of vessels affiliated with Israel or owned by the U.S. and the UK in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea in response to the war on Gaza. They have also launched dozens of drone and missile attacks against Israel during the past 10 months.

On the other hand, the U.S. and the UK have carried out hundreds of strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen in an attempt to deter the group and degrade its offensive capabilities, but to no avail.

The Houthis (Ansar Allah) along with other resistance movements in Lebanon and Iraq have called for the end of Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the delivery of aid into the besieged area. They have clearly stated that their attacks against Israel and vessels will not stop until Israel’s aggression on Gaza stop.

as a european it is beyond comprehension that we are not even allowed to discuss such matters as the above article, why the houti’s do what they do, their justification of their actions etc. etc. there are simply no irish voices (or god forbid houti and/or hamas) on air at all, period.
as ever great reporting southfront, keep the lights on and us from ignorance.

welcome to the new feudal corporatocracy where banks literally own you and you are not allowed to speak any opposing opinions much like the old feudal kings of old. this will not end well for the globalists. people need to start banding together everywhere to fight tyranny…

what are you talking about? they shoot countless drones every week. my question is: why aren’t they shooting down spy planes and satellites? screw freedom of navigation if they are actively undermining russian security. if these countries are actively involved in logistical and reconnaissance operations then freedom of navigation should be null and void. you already have a “hot” global war. i mean. at some point the russians have to say enough is enough.

Joseph Day

exactly. shoot em down then deny deny deny

i meant the us and uk recon drones flying over the black sea and gather target intel and help control the ukrainian attack drones and missiles. they are flying just outside russian territory and gather intel of the russian radars and defences so the ukrainian drones can be used more effective.
it is insane to let them fly. i know they cant shoot down the awacs who stay inside nato territory all the time but at least the drones and some spy plane who gets to near could be taken down.

but the us military industrial complex is celebrating this, because now they get to buy more drones at taxpayer expense. so everyone wins except the helpless taxpayer.
