A US Air Force F-35A fighter jet made an emergency landing at a base in Okinawa on November 8, Japan Today reported.

According to the US Air Force, the jet made a “precautionary landing” at the US Kadena Air Base. But the Kadena town government said it was an “emergency landing,” citing an observation by one of its officials who saw two fire trucks on either side of the runway during the landing. The US Air Force said it was a minor incident and “there was no appreciable risk of injury or property damage.”

A dozen F-35As belonging to a US Air Force base in Utah flew to the Kadena base from late October to early November for a six-month rotation. The controversial jet’s design has been criticized in detail, with Pentagon analysts citing flight control problems and numerous components of the aircraft being unreliable.

After decades of hosting the bulk of US military facilities in Japan, many people in Okinawa are frustrated with noise, crime and accidents linked to the US bases. Recently, safety concerns have been rekindled over a series of accidents involving US Marines Osprey aircraft and a transport helicopter stationed in Okinawa. Okinawa makes up less than 1% of Japan’s total area, but hosts three-quarters of US bases and more than half of the 47,000 US troops stationed in the country, a burden that has added to anti-base sentiment.

Its not a good advert just as ‘Car Salesman’ Trump is hawking these turkeys in Asia at the moment :)

Designed to be a flying “öne stop shop” for the US military it made the same mistakes the Germans made with the Me262, He 177 and various other aircraft designs in WW2 due to pressing battlefront needs and Hitler’s own meddling in the Luftwaffe procurement programs. Now the US and its N

@ Nigel Maund,

I can only give 1 ‘Thumbs Up’, but you deserve many more.

Thanks Daniel and good luck! I feel it’s a very sad ending for a potentially very great country!………..Destroyed at the connivence of foreign bankers (Rothschild’s and Warburgs) and their US lieutenants like J P Morgan, Nelson Aldrich, Benjamin Strong and Cornelius Vanderbilt who collectively established a humungous lamprey called the FED. Woodrow Wilson lived to regret his enormous blunder. Andrew Jackson prevented their previous attempt to establish their “Central Bank” escaping three attempts on his life in doing so. Jack Kennedy was not so lucky!

The US had it all. Resources and the potential to be a leading light for humanity. They have squandered the lot and will end up impoverishing their own people.

You should read Edward Gibbons ‘The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire’. Published in 1776.

Australia’s air defences are no more with this lemon.

The rear of the F-35 fuselage is internally packaged very tightly and in testing this has shown tendency to act as a heat trap – probably best to land when about to cook expensive parts…

BMWA1

This should do wonders for operational radius.

This is also the aircraft that was humiliated in tests against the earlier generation F16 fighting
falcon as well. The only winner is Lockheed Martin who have managed to turn this program
into a never ending gravy train. When the shooting starts the F35 pilot should make sure
the ejector seat is at least functional….
