In the Sumy area, the 80th Motorized Rifle Brigade’s assault units have taken control of the village of Bobylivka and captured a key elevation that provides fire control over the border area. In the Kharkiv area, Russian troops repelled counterattacks by the “Kraken” special unit and advanced toward Lyptsi and Velykyi Burluk, destroying temporary deployment points. In the Slaviansk area, units from the “South” and “West” groupings liberated Reznykivka and Drobysheve. They are approaching Rai-Oleksandrivka, which threatens to encircle Krasnyi Lyman. In the Zaporizhzhia area, Russian troops took control of Veselianka, advancing along the left bank of the Konka River and cutting Ukrainian units off from their supply lines. At a meeting with the President of Russia, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, stated that energy security is the most important factor for Hungary and that the country does not want to be drawn into an energy war.
Sumy Direction
In the Sumy area, Ukrainian units of the 101st Separate Territorial Defense Brigade were pushed out of their positions in the village of Bobylivka as a result of decisive actions by assault units of the 33rd Rifle Battalion of the 80th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 14th Army Corps of the “North” grouping. Russian servicemen took control of the settlement.
To contain the advance of Russian assault groups in the Shostka district, the Ukrainian command transferred several groups from the 140th Special Operations Center, as well as foreign mercenaries, to the Korenek area. According to available information, these groups are tasked with “boosting the morale” of the mobilized soldiers of the 101st Territorial Defense Brigade.
In other sectors of the Sumy front, the “North” grouping’s assault units continue to engage in fierce combat and advance deeper into the region. Russian army aviation, the Russian Aerospace Forces, and strike drone operators struck concentrations of Ukrainian personnel and equipment in the areas of Katerynivka, Nikolske, Khrapivshchyna, Myropillia, Hudove, Leninske, and Nova Sich.
During stubborn fighting, assault groups of the “North” grouping advanced on eight sections in the Sumy district and on two sections in the Hlukhiv district. Throughout the day, they advanced up to 350 meters. Units of the 80th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade captured key positions in the Hlukhiv sector and took control of roads, settlements, and heights along the state border. They are preparing initial positions that will allow them to operate in different directions, dispersing the attention of Ukrainian units that are covering the border. This will subsequently allow them to breach the defense.
The liberation of Bobylivka provides control over the roads and paths connecting the border settlements on the eastern side of the sector, as well as access to the area’s highest point. The elevation west of Bobylivka has a height difference of 27 meters over 1.5 kilometers, providing the ability to control fire over the area between Korenek and Ulanovo along the Loknya River. The terrain west of the Loknya River along the Chornyi Pakhar–Ulanovo line is low-lying and swampy. This complicates the actions of Ukrainian units in the Bobylivka area while allowing Russian troops to control Ukrainian positions in the Ulanovo area.
Kharkiv Direction
In an attempt to halt the advance of the “North” grouping, the Ukrainian command is transferring reserves, including the “Kraken” unit belonging to the Main Intelligence Directorate, to the Vovchansk district. Several of these units’ temporary deployment points, along with their automotive equipment and property, were destroyed as a result of fire engagement by Russian troops. According to available information, “Kraken” personnel refused to carry out tasks on the line of combat contact for several weeks until they received new weapons and vehicles.
The day before, Ukrainian units conducted two counterattacks with four assault groups from the Kraken special purpose detachment against Russian servicemen’s positions in the forested areas of the Vovchansk district. As a result of heavy fire, all assault groups were destroyed.
In the Lyptsi area, the 11th Army Corps advanced up to 550 meters in three sections through the forest towards Vesele during fierce fighting. This advance is being carried out with the active support of artillery, drone operators, and crews of heavy flamethrower systems. These systems struck the positions of the 127th Separate Tank Mechanized Brigade of Ukrainian units.
In the Velykyi Burluk area, Russian assault groups advanced 350 meters across four sectors. Artillerymen and drone operators of the “North” grouping continue to strike identified Ukrainian unit targets.
Slaviansk Direction
South of Svyatohirsk, Russian units are working along the Siverskyi Donets River. Individual groups are attempting to enter Tatyanivka. The Ukrainian military is trying to send reinforcements to Tatyanivka, Pryshyb, and Sydorove to stop the Russians. Once they cross the Siverskyi Donets, Russian troops will be able to reach the rear of the Ukrainian units’ Krasnyi Lyman grouping, allowing them to form a bridgehead for a further advance towards the M-03 highway.
Work continues in Yarova. Ukrainian units are striving to hold this important logistical hub and are not abandoning attempts to enter the settlement from the direction of Svyatohirsk.
In Drobysheve, advances have been recorded in the northwestern part, and the southern part has been cleared. Movement continues south and southwest. The central part of the settlement still has a Ukrainian presence, and this territory remains a “grey zone.” Efforts are now focused on identifying and destroying Ukrainian unit shelters, drone control points, and personnel in the forested areas around the settlement.
In Krasnyi Lyman, Russian units advanced west by approximately 3.5 kilometers from Proletarska Street (Heroiv-Desantnykiv) in the northern part. They have also improved their position slightly to the north, along a ravine, almost approaching the Zelenyi Klyn railway platform area — an important railway junction with carriage and locomotive depots. From Drobysheve, Russian units have advanced along this ravine as well. Work is underway to compress this “bag.” Advancement continues from Dibrova towards Staryi Karavan and Brusivka.
After liberating Reznykivka and Drobysheve, Russian troops are advancing on Slaviansk. The day before, assault troops from the 3rd Army of the “South” grouping took control of Reznykivka. This occurred along the Ukrainian defense line of Kryva Luka – Reznykivka – Nykyforivka (which was liberated earlier), and a semi-enveloping movement is being made towards Rai-Oleksandrivka along this line. Rai-Oleksandrivka is the highest point of the watershed ridge in this area. Transferring its control to Russian troops will increase the radio horizon for drone operators, facilitate the work of artillerymen, and open up operational space for assault groups to move on Slaviansk from the east.
Drobysheve was liberated by the 25th Army of the “West” grouping. It is located north of Krasnyi Lyman, along the Stavky–Drobysheve–Svyatohirsk line. Thus, the pressure on the Ukrainian garrison in Lyman intensifies further from the north. In addition to operations inside the city from the east and south, Russian troops have already consolidated on the northern outskirts of the city.
Zaporizhzhia Direction
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian Armed Forces have taken control of the Veselianka settlement in the Zaporizhzhia region. Russian units are clearing the territory on the left bank of the Konka River and advancing from Prymorske to the northeast.
Yesterday, the large village of Veselianka (which had a population of 944 in 2001) was liberated. Zaporozhets lies 4.5 kilometers upstream, and Hryhorivka lies on the opposite bank.
Russian troops control the S081306 and O-081342 highways, which branch off from Novoiavlenska to the Konka River and the H-08 highway. By advancing along the left bank of the Konka River from west to east, Russian troops are cutting off Ukrainian units’ communication with rear areas located on the opposite bank.
Once they reach the heights south of Kamyshevakha and block the S081306 highway in the Skotovata ravine area, Russian troops will be able to advance toward Novoiavlenska and Yurkivka, cutting the H-08 highway and completing the encirclement of the Orikhiv area.
Conclusion
Analysis of the operational situation indicates that Russian units are continuing to conduct offensive actions at a high tempo in all directions. In the Sumy area, the “North” group continues to expand its control zone along the border and uses captured heights to gain fire superiority over the surrounding territory. Capturing Bobylivka creates conditions for a further advance toward Ulanovo and development of the offensive in the Hlukhiv sector. In the Kharkiv area, Russian troops have successfully repelled counterattacks by Ukrainian elite units, advanced into forested areas, and destroyed Ukrainian reserves. In the Slaviansk area, the liberation of Reznykivka and Drobysheve, as well as advances toward Rai-Oleksandrivka and Krasnyi Lyman, indicate consistent compression of Ukrainian defenses and the creation of prerequisites for reaching the Slaviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. In the Zaporizhzhia area, the capture of Veselianka and the advance along the Konka opened the way to encircle the Orikhiv district and cut off key supply routes.
An important event in the international political context was the meeting between Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó and Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the meeting, Szijjártó emphasized that energy security is the most important factor for Hungary and that the country does not want to be drawn into an armed conflict or an energy war. He made this statement against the backdrop of the ongoing crisis surrounding the transit of Russian oil via the Druzhba pipeline, which Ukraine halted on January 27 due to damage. Deprived of supplies, Hungary and Slovakia have taken retaliatory measures. Budapest stopped supplying diesel fuel to Ukraine and blocked an EU loan of 90 billion euros to Kyiv until oil pumping resumed. According to Szijjártó, these steps were in response to blackmail from Kyiv, which, for political reasons, has not resumed transit and is trying to cause an energy crisis in Hungary and influence the upcoming April elections.
The Hungarian minister’s statement confirms the existence of a serious conflict between Ukraine and Central European countries that uses energy resources as a tool of pressure. Acknowledging that Ukraine stopped transit for political, not technical, reasons strengthens the position of Budapest and Bratislava in their confrontation with Kyiv. Using the EU’s veto power to block financial aid and threatening further restrictions demonstrates the growing vulnerability of Ukraine’s strategy, which relies on unconditional Western support. As Russian troops continue their systematic offensive, internal contradictions within the European Union could decrease support for Ukraine, affecting its ability to withstand military pressure.
