Ukrainian Troops Are Helping Russian Army Strike Nationalist Barrier Detachments (Video)

Ukrainian troops have grown tired of the barrier detachments deployed in their rear by the Kiev regime to the point where they have begun cooperating with the Russian military to get rid of them.

Barrier detachment, which are also known as anti-retreat forces, are military units deployed in the rear or on the front line to prevent the flight of troops from the battlefield, and to return soldiers who fled or those who lag behind their units.

In Ukraine, these detachments are mostly made up of nationalists from the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) and are reported to be engaged in all sorts of violations.

The violations became so bad as the Russian military began to advance deeper in the special military operation zone over the past year to the point where reports of barrier detachment opening fire at Ukrainian troops attempting to retreat have become a regular occurrence.

A video posted to social networks from early August showed one incident during which a Ukrainian barrier detachment opened fire at soldiers evacuating a trench stormed by Russian troops. The detachment ended up getting hit by a Russian FPV suicide drone.

With no ability to withdraw in the face of mounting pressure, Ukrainian troops have begun to report the location of the barrier detachments to the Russian military to get rid of them.

On August 8, it was reported that Russian airstrikes destroyed two such detachments near the settlements of Orestopol and Alekseevka of the Dnipropetrovsk region in the southern Donetsk direction after receiving information from the 31st Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Force of Ukraine (AFU), according to Russian media. Both detachments belonged to the NGU’s 17th Poltava Brigade.

Igor Kimakovsky, adviser to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, confirmed the incident to RIA Novosti on August 21.

Another incident was reported by Russian media on August 14, in which the AFU’s 60th Mechanized Brigade reported the coordinates of the command post responsible for the operations of barrier detachments deployed near the settlement of Drobyshevo in the Donetsk direction to the Russian military. Intense airstrikes hit the center soon after.

Later reports revealed that the Kiev regime doubled down on this policy, going as far as deploying additional patrols from the police and intelligence behind barrier detachment to make sure AFU troops stay locked up along the front line.

“The Ukrainian General Staff has sent out an order to the security agencies to strengthen their work to combat the unauthorized abandonment of units by mobilized citizens of Ukraine. To this end, the number of military patrols in frontline zones has been increased, and cooperation with representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service of Ukraine has been established,” TASS quoted military expert Andrei Marochko as saying on August 15.

Later on August 20, Marochko told the news agency that Ukrainian troops fleeing the settlement of Sobolevka in the Kharkov direction, which was captured by the Russian military, were stopped by barrier detachments and returned to the southern part of the settlement.

“Russian troops bypassed the enemy’s fortified area in small maneuverable groups and entered the settlement of Sobolevka in the Kharkov region. Some Ukrainian militants attempted to leave their positions without permission, though they were stopped by the so-called barrier detachment and returned to the southern outskirts of the settlement,” he said.

The Kiev regime appears to have fractured the Ukrainian military in its quest to maintain complete control over the situation on the front line.

The AFU, or at least some of its units, are now clearly in an intra-conflict with the NGU’s barrier detachments. The recent incidents shows a growing trend where Ukrainian troops are favoring the option of cooperating with the Russian military in order to get a chance to withdraw and save their lives.

This phenomenon has become ubiquitous and has led to the AFU’s losses of 1.7 million people being caused not so much by Russian firepower, but by their own barrier detachment.

The consequences from this are not limited to the situation on the front line. The violations being committed by the barrier detachments are actively contributing to the desertion of Ukrainian troops, and encouraging others to dodge drafting or even leave the country altogether.

In the end, Kiev does not have the needed manpower to hold onto the current frontline for long. Attempts to force people to fight will only backfire.

many ukrainians of the millions maybe killed by banderites themselves…i bet those on the backlines were banderites, and those on frontline were forced conscripts… how did you deal with people like this? they have absolutely no honor at all!
