Ukrainian Thriller: Drunken TRC and Police Officers Pursue Family with Children

An incident in Ukraine’s Vinnytsia region starkly illustrates the extreme tensions in Ukrainian society amid the ongoing mobilization. Officers from the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC), together with police officers, initiated a pursuit of a passenger car whose driver ignored an order to stop near the village of Kasperivka. According to the driver’s wife, the reason for the refusal to stop was that they were being signaled to stop by a man in military uniform, not a police officer, who then immediately began hitting their vehicle. She also stated that both the military personnel and the police officers were under the influence of alcohol.

The chase continued into the Zhytomyr region, where police finally blocked the car. The situation escalated when a TRC officer smashed the car window. Inside the vehicle were two underage girls, who were in a state of extreme panic, crying and praying.

The father of the family, who was driving, managed to call the Military Law Enforcement Service. The arriving military law enforcement officers detained the aggressive TRC serviceman.

The incident provoked a sharp reaction from bystanders who gathered at the scene. They demanded that the drunken TRC officer in his Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) uniform stop hiding his face and present his documents. The crowd openly expressed their outrage, directing derogatory terms at him.

This case is not an isolated one. Reports of excessive aggression by TRC representatives—often referred to by the derogatory term “lyudolovy” (people-hunters)—during mobilization efforts are becoming increasingly common. This term, which has gained traction in Ukrainian society, equates their methods to “hunting” people, highlighting the forced and often brutal nature of some mobilization campaigns.

This incident, among others, highlights a profound systemic crisis: mobilization methods are causing growing rejection and protest among the population, even among those who initially supported the authorities. The psychological state of the TRC employees themselves is also called into question, as reports indicate that the pressure to meet conscription quotas is immense, with failure potentially resulting in being sent to the front lines. This creates a vicious cycle of violence and fear, where the hunters are themselves, in a way, victims of the system. Official structures have yet to provide a comprehensive comment on the incident, which only fuels further speculation and public anger.

absolute power corrupts absolutely. thank goodness americas system absolutely makes that as unlikely as possible, unlike other countries or states where autocracy overthrows any threats from anything vaguely even resembling common law. take a wild guess
