Kiev forces attacked the Russian region of Belgorod with rockets on March 22, causing several casualties and material damage.
Russian air defenses in the region intercepted eight Czech-made RM-70 Vampire rockets which targeted the region, according to a statement released by the Russian MoD. However, there were reports of impacts.
Belgorod governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that the attack killed a woman who was walking her dogs. Video footage showing the moment a Ukrainian rocket landed next to the victim surfaced online. Two other civilians were wounded in another area.
In addition, 31 apartments in five apartment buildings, one private house and four medical facilities were damaged in the region. Twelve cars were also sustained damage, four of them completely burned, according to the governor.
The Kiev regime intensified attacks on Russian territories in recent weeks in what appears to be an attempt to terrorize civilians and disturb security. The vast majority of the rockets, missiles and suicide drones used in these attacks were intercepted by Russian air defenses.
Kiev forces also made several attempts to infiltrate the territories of Belgorod and the neighboring region of Kursk. All of these attempts were foiled by the Russian military, however. Hundreds of Ukrainian troops were killed or wounded.
The Russian response to recent Ukrainian attacks has already begun. On March 21, a large-scale missile attack hit decision-making centers in Kiev, and early on March 22 an even larger wave of strikes destroyed key military and infrastructure targets across Ukraine.
