According to the former deputy head of the Ukrainian State Fiscal Service (SFS), Ukraine is used as a transit country for convey of drugs and weapons to the EU.
Ukraine is becoming a transit country for convey of drugs from the Middle East to the EU, as the country itself has a more attractive and accessible market of drugs, former deputy head of the Ukrainian State Fiscal Service (SFS), Konstantin Likarchuk, said in a broadcast on Ukrainian television.
“Ukraine itself is not a so attractive market for drugs. The domestic consumption is focused on drugs, produced on the Ukrainian territory, – poppy straw and so on. We are really a transit country, drugs come to us from Iran, from those territories, through Turkey, respectively, through Odessa, and then it [drugs] must go through Volyn, as a rule, or through Lvov. And then it [drugs] goes to the EU,” the ex-head said.
He also noted unsatisfactory work of the Ukrainian customhouse: “I think that we do not have a power of state approach and state thinking in relation to the customhouse on the upper levels of the government. Nobody understands what it is, nobody understands for what it is and why it is. For this reason, I suppose that Ukraine is a serious transit country for drugs, weapons and other such unpleasant things.”
Likarchuk was dismissed from his post on September 7. His immediate superior, head of the department Roman Nasirov, explained the dismissal of the fact that his subordinate was “absolutely not a competent person.”
In particular, Likarchuk was accused of sabotaging the decisions of the department’s headship, of the Ukrainian government and the Ukrainian the Ministry of Finance, regarding the reforms. According to Likarchuk, he was fired for other reasons, in particular, due to the fact that he “has begun to unmask the corruption schemes in the customhouse.”
Through Odessa, i think i know who gets his cut.
