Ukrainian Drones Targeted Sevastopol, Struck Ferry In Port Kavkaz

On the night of July 23, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted another massive drone attack on the Russian territory. Unlike the day before, Ukrainian forces launched much less UAVs, which mainly targeted the Crimean peninsula.

According to the official report by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian air defense forces managed to destroy 25 Ukrainian UAVs during the night. The destroyed drones included:

• 21 drones in the Crimean peninsula and the Black Sea;
• two drones in the Bryansk region;
• two drones in the Belgorod region.

Most of Ukrainian drones targeted the city of Sevastopol. According to local authorities, Ukrainian drones were shot down and intercepted by electronic warfare over the city and the water area. There is no damage on the ground, and there are no casualties either.

In the morning, the governor of the Krasnodar region claimed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked a ferry in Port Kavkaz in the Kerch Strait with drones. As a result of the attack, the ferry caught fire.There are injured and at least one dead among the crew and port staff.

Port Kavkaz is located in the Kerch Strait, the passenger terminal provides a ferry crossing between Crimea and Krasnodar region. In addition, there is a the cargo terminal capable of handling large volumes of oil and other cargo for export. The port is located about 12 km north of the Crimean Bridge.

Two months ago, two ferries were damaged by falling rocket debris in the east of Crimea.
