The diplomatic deadlock following the June 2 negotiations in Istanbul gave way to a fierce wave of nighttime attacks, with both Russian and Ukrainian forces launching coordinated strikes against critical infrastructure and military targets. The exchanges underscored the deepening conflict, as Kyiv sought to demonstrate its defiance while Moscow retaliated with precision strikes across Ukraine.

Ukrainian Strikes on Russian-Held Regions

Between 8 p.m. on June 2 and 7 a.m. local time on June 3, Russian air defenses intercepted eight Ukrainian drones, including three over Crimea, two in Kursk region, two in Belgorod region, and one over the Sea of Azov. This is a particularly modest Ukrainian attack compared to the previous massive provocative strikes launched by Kyiv before the new round of negotiations.

Despite the interceptions in the rear regions, Ukrainian UAVs inflicted damage to civilian infrastructure in the war-torn regions. According to the local Russian reports, falling debris from downed UAVs damaged a newly built substation in the Henichesk district of Kherson region and another in Melitopol in Zaporozhzhie region. The attacks left over 104,000 residents cut off energy supplies, with emergency generators sustaining critical facilities. Local Governor Vladimir Saldo confirmed that 150 settlements across four districts were affected, disrupting 44 social infrastructure sites. In Zaporozhzhie region, Governor Yevgeny Balitsky reported a total blackout after high-voltage equipment was struck, forcing hospitals to rely on backup power.

Russia’s Retaliatory Strikes: Precision and Scale

In response to ongoing Kyiv’s provocations, Russian forces unleashed a multi-pronged assault across Ukraine, targeting military logistics, industrial hubs, and command centers. According to the Air Force of Ukraine, the Russian military launched 112 UAVs of different types, 75 of them were allegedly intercepted by Ukrainian air defense and suppressed by EW means. The Ukrainian military confirmed Russian strikes in at least 11 areas across the country, providing no details on the targets.

Over the past day, Russian strikes were recorded in the DPR, Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporozhie, Kherson, Poltava, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Odessa and Mykolaiv regions.

At night, the southern Odessa city came under another massive attack. According to local reports, over 30 kamikaze drones pummeled the port area. The local authorities confirmed damage to the industrial facilities and the railway near the port. The local cement plant turned into as a military storage site, communication systems and other equipment stored in a warehouse on Vapnyana Street were destroyed. One of the strikes reportedly destroyed the warehouse with naval drones. Explosions thundered in the area of the Shkolny airfield, where air defense systems were reportedly disabled in a secondary explosion. A series of explosions thundered in the neighbour port town of Chernomorske (Ilyichevsk).

Damage was confirmed to the Chernihiv Radio Equipment Plant, a key facility producing communication systems and electronic warfare components. The attack targeted Warehouse No. 1, which stored plastic casings for tactical radios, antennas, and drone-jamming systems. The strike triggered a fire spanning approximately 1,000 square meters, destroying up to 15 pieces of industrial equipment, critical to Ukraine’s military production.

Ukrainian military airfield came under attack in Suprunovka in the Poltava region, where warehouses with equipment for military helicopters, UAV command stations and Western-supplied drone batteries were destroyed. A separate Iskander-M missile strike in Mirgorod targeted undisclosed military infrastructure.

The eastern Ukrainian regions are pounded by Russian strikes all days long. In the Kharkiv region, Nova Poshta logistics terminal in Korotych was incinerated, destroying drone components and medical supplies. Balakliya’s road maintenance warehouses, repurposed by the Ukrainian military, were also leveled.

The areas of the DPR that are under Ukrainian control came under massive attack. In Sloviansk, a logistics base for Ukraine’s “Voron” task force was obliterated, along with five vehicles, while a command post of the 12th Special Forces Brigade was neutralized. Near Serhiivka, a munitions depot holding 8 tons of shells exploded after a direct hit.

Russian Iskander-M missile struck the area of combat deployment of the tank battalion of the Ukrainian 117th Infantry Brigade in Poltavka, DPR. As a result of the strike, two Leopard 1A5S were destroyed, an M113 was damaged, and an IVECO truck burned down.

The State Chemical Products Institute in Shostka in the Sumy region was hit, and drone production labs were destroyed, igniting an 800-square-meter fire. Russian strikes were recorded across the city of Sumy. According to preliminary reports, Russian missile struck the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) headquarters on Herasyma Kondratieva Street, causing significant structural damage and casualties. Apparently, the epicenter of the impact fell on a car with employees. According to the Ukrainian media, there are many wounded men, as indicated by the photos. Such a precision strike could be a response to the recent terrorist attacks and the Spiderweb operation of Ukrainian special services in Russia.

Another missile strike was reported in the morning in Mykolaiv. Before the strike, the Air Force of Ukraine reported that Russian MiG-31 fighters that can launch Kinzhal hypersonic missiles took off to launch strikes. The local residents confirmed at least two large explosions on the outskirts of Mykolaiv.

The strikes followed a predictable yet destructive pattern: Ukraine aimed to disrupt Russian control in occupied regions, while Moscow retaliated with overwhelming force, degrading Kyiv’s military-industrial capacity. With Ukraine’s army retreating on multiple fronts and Russia systematically dismantling its logistics, the conflict is settling into a grim rhythm of attrition—one where diplomatic overtures are drowned out by the roar of missiles.

lies and propaganda from both sides. those civilian casualties are just as much ones fault as the other.

Yes

putin is in the same masonic lodge as western politicians. they “argue,” but we die. this is a war against us that these regimes are waging. all regimes spread the same lies.

MacZ

one side does not target civilians. we know because if it did, it would be plastered all over western medias all the time. this is a false equivalence from the terrorism and genocide supporters.

Yes

are the russians keeping targets just to use them as a retaliatory strike? why haven’t these targets been destroyed long ago? or are normal bombardments being labeled as retaliation?

that’s exactly what i was asking. if you had the coordinates and locations to this site right after their attack, why didn’t you hit them before the enemy attack?

hasbarats

ukraine is a whore with no self respect. not even clients respect these whores which explains why nato looks at ukraine as cattle. they destroyed ukraine because west are pussies who cannot man up and talk to russians

remember the story of the hare and the tortoise: consistent and measured progress leads to victory. a sudden, attention-grabbing action fueled by propaganda won’t secure success. the true objective of such tactics is to provoke an excessive response that can be used to their advantage. civilian casualties, even among their own people, are not a concern for them. it’s important to remain composed and steadily diminish their capacity.

Mike

there is no progress you morons putin fanboys keep making excuses for this pro-western two bit cowardly st petersburg lawyer and his armenian scumbag diplomat lavrov.

Aragorn

like to cut a poisonous snake from the tail ? this is simple wrong, and explain why the source to hundreds years of war, “us”, are not attacked. not even when they mass murder in the hospitals.

SovietRus´

state media can´t hide the rage of the russian people… let the cowards in the kremlin know that! a prigozhin moment will come if putin still seating idle, waiting for drumpf “approval”!

MacZ

as the old tale reminds us, the tortoise beat the hare by staying steady. a loud, dramatic action backed by spin won’t bring real victory. these moves are meant to provoke – to lure us into a mistake they can exploit. civilian deaths, even among their own people, mean nothing to them. the wise course is to stay focused and keep gradually weakening their position.

Mike

bs cope from putin fanboys.

this has little or no effect on ukraine. the equipment will be replaced by the west and added to the bill to be deducted from russian money in europe which is frozen. ukraine will continue hitting russia territory, the surprises will keep coming. seems no end to that and there is nothing russia can do.

nato is running out of equipment that they do not have the industrial capacity to replace; that – and the attritional losses of ukrainian troops – is the whole point. russia can keep this up for years; nato has just months left.
