On the evening of February 6th, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation released an urgent report, summing up the results of the large-scaled Ukrainian attack in the Kursk region. LINK As of 21.00 local time, units of the Russian North group of forces thwarted an attempt by the Armed Forces od Ukraine to launch a counteroffensive in the direction of the settlements of Cherkasskaya Konopelka and Ulanok in the Kursk region. All Ukrainian attacks were repelled.
The Russian military reported that in total, “up to two Ukrainian mechanized battalions on infantry fighting vehicles and armored combat vehicles, supported by tanks and barrage vehicles, launched eight waves of attacks during the day.”
On the Russian side, Ukrainian assault units were stopped and defeated by the military personnel of the 11th Separate Amphibious Assault Brigade, the 810th Separate Marine Brigade, the Veterans and Arbat volunteer units, as well as the drone operators from the Rubicon Center for Advanced Unmanned Technologies, the 40th Separate Marine Brigade and the 177th Separate Marine Regiment, with the support of aviation and artillery.

The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to more than 200 people and about 50 pieces of weapons and military equipment, including: eight tanks, five infantry fighting vehicles, an armored personnel carrier and 30 armored combat vehicles, as well as three barrier engineering vehicles, a bridge-laying machine and other equipment.
Units of the North group of forces are mopping up areas where scattered enemy groups remain, the Russian military concluded.
The latest reports from the battlefield confirm another important tactical victory of the Russian military. Ukrainian attacks resulted in heavy losses but no military gains.
The Ukrainian military command planned to launch several waves of surprise assaults on Russian military positions in the villages of Cherkasskaya Konopelka and Ulanok located southeast of Sudzha in the Kursk region. They planned to land their infantry in the forest areas nearby and launch attacks on dozens of armored vehicles and tanks.
This was a large attack that involved at least 350 Ukrainian soldiers and more than 50 units of vehicles, including about a dozen tanks. The Ukrainian military was betting on bad weather conditions and numerous electronic jamming systems supplied by NATO, which should prevent Russians from coordinating their operations with reconnaissance drones and launching massive precision strikes with UAVs.
Russians were ready to welcome the enemy. They allowed the Ukrainians to advance a little deeper in their rear areas, land their infantry and intense battles began. Some Ukrainian soldiers managed to enter the outskirts of the villages but they failed to gain a foothold and were destroyed.
Russian forces surprised Ukrainians with massive precision strikes with various UAVs, including small FPV drones that immobilise and destroy both Ukrainian and NATO tanks despite any additional protection.
The Russians are also actively using their UAVs with fiber optic cable that cannot be affected by Ukrainian/NATO EW systems.
As a result of hours of fighting in grinder, the Ukrainian army suffered heavy losses in manpower and military equipment. No settlement was captured. Dozens of Ukrainians were left in the forests nearby, scattered they are eliminated during the ongoing mop up operation.
Today’s Ukrainian attacks resulted in unconditional Russian victory but their goal remain unclear. The scale of the assault suppose that it was not a simple probing reconnaissance attack. Although Kyiv does not care about the soldiers thrown into a meat grinder as cannon fodder, Ukrainian units lost a large number of precious armored vehicles, including those supplied from abroad.
According to the reports from the front, Ukrainian mechanised units continue some manoeuvres in the rear, there are still large reserves deployed in the area of Sudzha. Probably, the Ukrainian military command tried to contain Russian forces with battles on the outskirts of Sudzha in order to prevent the Russians from launching more offensive operations in other directions in the Kursk region, including on the northern and southern flanks.
This is the second large-scaled attempt of the Ukrainian military to launch a counteroffensive in the Kursk region in recent weeks aimed at bringing some benefits for the doomed Kyiv regime in the upcoming negotiations. Both pf them were repelled but the Armed Forces of Ukraine continued to send reinforcements and deployed large forces in the Kursk region. Ukrainian attacks are likely to continue.
