On May 2, two Russian Raptor-type boats were destroyed by strikes from Bayraktar UAVs in the Black Sea. The AFU military command confirmed the attack which took place at dawn near the Zmeiny island.
According to the data from the camera of the Ukrainian UAV Bayraktar TB2, the strikes on the Raptor boats were carried out on May 2 at 4:38-4:51 am directly off the coast of the island of Zmeiny from a distance of 6.6-7 kilometers. The first boat, going in reverse, was hit about 80 meters from the east coast of the island at 4:38 from a distance of 7 kilometers. The second boat was hit already about 700 meters from the island at 4:51 from a distance of 6.6 kilometers.
On the same day, a powerful explosion was reported in Odessa. The Russian Aerospace Forces reportedly struck the Shkolny military airfield where the same Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 drones were deployed.
On May 3, the Russian Ministry of Defence confirmed the attack with high-precision Onyx missiles in the Odessa area. According to the report, a logistics center at a military airfield, through which foreign weapons were delivered, was struck. Hangars with Bayraktar TB2 UAVs, as well as missile weapons and ammunition received from the United States and European countries were also destroyed.
The new Russian Onyx-M anti-ship supersonic cruise missile has the capability of engaging targets with a high-low trajectory of 800 km. The missile was originally designed to be deployed for ship targets and has the capability to be used against ground targets. The 800 km range is a big upgrade, as earlier it only had a strike range of 300 km. Its maximum flight speed of up to 2.5 speeds of sound at high altitude.
