On December 6, the Russian military expanded its control around the city of Pokrovsk and in the nearby besieged city of Myrnohrad, all while inflicting heavy losses on Kiev forces.
The Tsentr [Center] Group of Forces made substantial gains to the north of Pokrovsk, securing an area of 8.7 square kilometers. This tightened the siege on Myrnohrad, also known as Dimitrov, and increased pressure on Ukrainian troops fighting inside and around Rodynske to the north.
In Myrnohard itself, where troops from at least five different Ukrainian formations are besieged, the Tsentr Group of Forces also made gains. Russian troops have reportedly advanced in the Zapadny microdistrict, located in the southeastern part of the city.
Fighting also continues in Rivne, located between Pokrovsk and Myrnohard. Ukrainian troops fighting there could, however, fall back to Myrnohard at any monument.
It’s worth noting that the Russian military’s recent push to the north of Pokrovsk cut off all routes leading to Myrnohard. Now, besieged Ukrainian troops are reported to be receiving very limited supplies with drones, which are also facing the threat of being shot down.
In addition to all of the losses sustained around Pokrovsk, Ukraine is once again losing ground to the north east of the city.
The Test Group of Forces has reportedly stormed Sofiivka, to the northeast of Shakhove, and captured most of the settlement. Once Myrnohard is fully-cleared, operations in this direction will likely gain priority, and a large-scale offensive towards Dobropillia will likely begin.
In its daily briefing, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the Tsentr Group of Forces neutralized “465 troops, one tank, five armored fighting vehicles, including one MaxxPro armored vehicle, one U.S.-made M113 armored personnel carrier, four motor vehicles, and one artillery gun” over the past 24 hours.
The battle of Pokrovsk has turned into a disaster for Kiev forces on all levels. Ukraine suffered heavy losses and ultimately failed to hold onto the city and nearby areas. Now, limited collapses are being reported all across the special military operation zone because Kiev no longer has the manpower to keep up with the Russian military.
