Ukraine Emerges As Testbed For U.S. AI Killer Drones

Auterion, a Swiss-American uncrewed vehicle software company, introduced on September 17 the “Nemyx,” a specialized platform for the simultaneous and coordinated control of multiple drones. The platform was, according to the company, developed based on experience gained from real-world use in Ukraine, which highlights the country’s growing role as a testbed for Western weapons, especially more controversial artificial intelligence (AI) systems.

The Nemyx represents a “major step forward” in the field of military and surveillance drone technology, according to Auterion.

The company said that the platform enables operators to centrally manage entire fleets of drones that can be from different manufacturers, as long as they are equipped with the AuterionOS operating system.

Using machine vision and advanced artificial intelligence algorithms, Nemyx enables drones to communicate with each other and make decisions in real time.

Auterion claims that technology makes it possible to identify and engage multiple targets simultaneously, significantly increasing efficiency.

The fact that Nemyx was tested in Ukraine is not surprising. In July, Auterion CEO Lorenz Meier said the company will deliver 33,000 AI-powered “strike kits” to Ukraine by the end of the year under a contract with the United States’ Department of Defense.

These “strike kits” are described as miniature Skynode computers running Auterion software, equipped with a camera and radio module. They turn manually operated drones, like quadcopters, into “AI-powered weapons systems” that cannot be jammed and are capable of tracking moving targets up to one kilometre away, according to Auterion.

The contract to supply the “strike kits,” worth around US$50 million, was signed directly with the Department of Defense as a part of the US military aid package to Ukraine.

Meier described his company at the time as a “pioneer” in American-Ukraine cooperation on the joint production of drones.

“It’s basically acknowledging that the battle-hardening that has happened in Ukraine of drone products is relevant. That it’s a way to support Ukraine, but it’s also technology that . . .NATO countries want to get their hands on,” he said. “They have a fantastic drone industry. What we want to contribute are things that they do not have already and that are more software-defined warfare-centric,” he said.

While Ukraine does have a well-established drone industry, this industry, in fact, relies entirely not only on tech imported from the West, but also on direct finance by it.

In reality, Auterion and other companies developing military applications involving drones and AI in the West, especially in the U.S., need Ukraine not for its “drone technology,” but just as a risk-free testbed for emerging and possibly dangerous technologies. If something goes wrong there, it would be Ukrainian soldiers or civilians getting hurt, and in any case, there will likely be no legal consequences.

These companies are not looking to learn anything from the Ukrainians, rather trying to use them as subjects for their own tests.

The Kiev regime of course understands this and is trying to capitalize on presenting Ukraine as a risk-free testbed with initiatives like “Tested in Ukraine”.

It won’t be surprising if some Western companies wanted to use this initiative to test full-autonomous AI-powered weapon systems that can make kill decisions with no human interference. Such concepts have been the subject of heated moral discussion in the West and the rest of the world for a long time, but Kiev appears to be open to testing anything that kills people.

It is also not completely unimaginable to think that Ukraine could use such tech to carry out acts of sabotage within Russia’s territories. An even worse scenario could see such technology leaking to criminal organizations and terrorist groups, which have already benefited from Ukraine’s ill-guarded drone program.

All in all, Ukrainian decision-makers see facilitating such risky tests as a way to pursue the U.S. to provide more military support and ease pressure for peace talks with Russia. The main goal is, of course, to prolong the conflict as much as possible with no real long-term strategy on how to actually end it.

its hard to feel sorry for americans when they vote in warmongerers – 83+ wars since 1948 – 30 million world citizens blown apart by us tactics of “shock & awe ” until the usa public stand up for real freedom and democracy i have little sympathy .

so much for swiss neutrality. the davos club wants russia and it’s people deceased. there is your answer to whom your real enemy is president putin. a wise man acts when he is threatened and the enemy reveals themselves. make sure you deliver one sarmat for those who planned this war against the federation, or the war will have been in vain. the rumor is that there is a throne in place in that country for lucifer-the enemy of all faiths and life.

meanwhile russia has announced that it is creating its own starlink starting in december its low orbit allows precision control of drones and extra ability to locate enemy equipment test satellites are already in orbit via bureau 1440 .

the us air force tested an ai drone (actually a uav) last year. the operator kept trying to correct the targeting information, so the drone got fed up with the ‘interference’ and (virtually) destroyed the operator……..
