The Zelensky government continues efforts of the predecessor administration of Petro Poroshenko to convince canonical local Orthodox Churches to recognize the puppet Orthodox Church created by Kiev for own political purposes.
On September 26, Ambassador of Ukraine to Greece Serhiy Shutenko met with Metropolitan of Messinia Chrysostomos to discuss with him the situation with the non-canonic Orthodox Church of Ukraine (recently created by Kiev with help from Constantinople). The Ukrainian diplomat ‘transfered the will of the Ukrainian population’ regarding the Ukrainian church question to Metropolitan Chrysostomos. In other words, he attempted to promote the non-canonic organization created in Ukraine.
Over the past months, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has undertaken several attempts to convince the Greek Orthodox Church to recognize the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. These efforts were apparently coordinated with the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
It’s expected that this campaign will be event strengthened in October, when the Greek Orthodox Church is expected to hold the Bishops’ Council to discuss the Ukraine question.
