USS Sirocco PC-6

According to the U.S Navy statement, it seized weapons in the Arabian Sea on March 28. The U.S. Navy announced that the seizure of a shipment of weapons were originated in Iran and was headed to Houthi rebels in Yemen.

The Navy said that the coastal patrol ship USS Sirocco “intercepted and seized” the weapons, which included 1,500 AK-47 automatic rifles, 200 rocket-propelled grenade launchers and 21 .50-caliber machine guns in the Arabian Sea.

The Navy added that the weapons were taken from a “small, stateless dhow,” — a kind of traditional sailboat commonly found in the Indian Ocean

“Seized” would be if an official authority confiscated the contraband. Taking cargo by force in the middle of the ocean by unauthorized power group is called piracy.
