U.S., Israel Launch Large-Scale Regime-Change Attack Against Iran (Videos)

After weeks of preparations, the United States and Israel attacked Iran on February 28, sparking a war that could go on for weeks, or even more.

Defense Minister Israel Katz was the first to announce the attack as blasts were rocking the capital of the Islamic Republic, Tehran, calling it a “preemptive” operation.

“The State of Israel has launched a preemptive strike against Iran to remove threats to the State of Israel,” he said, noting that he declared an “immediate state of emergency throughout the entire country.”

Katz added that the attack is intended to “remove threats to the State of Israel.” While the defense minister didn’t mention the U.S., Israel’s Channel 12 news was the first to confirm that the attack on Iran was indeed a joint Israeli-American operation.

A security source told the news channel Israel is going “all out” in this operation, and the U.S. is very much “on the same page.”

The source added the “initial phase” of the joint attack is planned to last for four days. The channel noted that the timing of the opening strikes for the morning hours was designed to surprise the Iranians, who would not have expected a daytime attack.

Other Hebrew media outlets reported that Israel named its operation against the Islamic Republic “Lion’s Roar.”

Separately, Reuters reported, citing an American official, that U.S. strikes against Iran are being carried out by air and sea. Videos from Iraq show what appears to be salvo of Tomahawk land-attack cruise missiles heading towards the Islamic Republic. The missiles were most likely launched from warships in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.

As Iranian media reported blasts in Tehran, as well as in Isfahan, Karaj, and Kermanshah, sirens sound across Israel with the Israeli military’s Home Front Command warning civilians to stay close to bomb shelters.

The message said that “due to the security situation,” civilians should ensure they know what the optimal protected shelter near them is and avoid non-essential travel. The military said that the “proactive alert” is intended to prepare the public for the possibility of missile fire toward our territory.”

The Mossad spy agency on its official Persian-language Telegram channel called on Iranians to help “return Iran to its glorious days.”

“Our Iranian brothers and sisters, you are not alone! We have launched a highly secure and dedicated Telegram channel especially for you. Together we will return Iran to its glorious days,” the statement said .

Mossad even called on Iranians to “share photos and videos of your just struggle against the regime with us.”

The spy agency played a key role in Israel’s 12-day war on Iran last June, and its statement now hints that the goal of Israel and the U.S. is to overthrow the government of the Islamic Republic.

The attack came as no surprise. Both the U.S. and Israel have been preparing to attack Iran for at least the last two months. The Islamic Republic, which had been also making preparations, is guaranteed to respond. The war could drag on for weeks, if not months.

The U.S. and Israel want to end Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, and even limit its influence in the Middle East. While launching strikes against the Islamic Republic is within the capabilities of both countries, controlling the outcome is certainly not.
