U.S. Army Claims It Destroyed Yet Another Houthi Anti-Ship Missile

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on April 5 that its forces engaged and destroyed an anti-ship missile of the Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen a day earlier.

There were no casualties or damage reported by U.S., coalition, or commercial ships, the command said in a statement, noting that the missile presented a threat to vessels in the region.

“CENTCOM is dedicated to protecting the freedom of navigation and making international waters safer and more secure for Coalition and merchant vessels,” the command added.

Houthi-run media, including Al-Masirah TV and the SABA news agency, didn’t report any strikes on Yemen on April 4, which casts some doubts on CENTCOM’s claims.

The Houthis, who are backed by Iran, have attacked more than 90 vessels affiliated with Israel or owned by the U.S. and the United Kingdom in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since last November in response to the Israeli war and siege on the Palestinian Gaza Strip.

In an attempt to deter the Houthis, the U.S. and the UK have carried out more than 400 strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen since January. At least 37 people were killed and 30 others were wounded in these strikes. Nevertheless, the group remains undeterred.

The Houthis are now developing their offensive capabilities and planning to expand their operations to cover vessels in the Indian Ocean, as they travel toward the Cape of Good Hope.

houthis strike are cost-intensive for the us to repell yes, but so far we didn t see houthis really sinking even 1 single us war ship or even commercial vessel, so i guess houthis should better do more coordinated and bigger attacks so to overload us air defence and really sink their ships.
