Two US MQ-1 Predator Combat UAVs Crashed In Turkey Within Four Days

A MQ-1 Predator crash site in Turkey

Two US MQ-1 Predator combat unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) opearting from Turkey’s Incirlik Air Base have crashed within 4 days.

The first MQ-1 Predator crashed in southeastern Turkey after taking off from Incirlik Air Base on August 17.

The aircraft crashed while departing Incirlik Air Base at approximately at 10:15 p.m., local time, Aug. 17, 2017.

There were no civilian or military injuries. The U.S. military and Turkish officials have control of the aircraft. An investigation is underway to determine the specific cause of the crash,” the US Air Force said in a statement.

The second MQ-1 Predator crashed in southern Turkey on August 21 in the very similar circumstances.

“U.S. emergency responders and local police are on scene where a U.S. Air Force MQ-1 Predator remotely piloted aircraft crashed in a field approximately 200 miles east of Adana, Turkey.

The aircraft departed Incirlik Air Base, and subsequently crashed at approximately 11:50 a.m., local time, Aug. 21, 2017.

“U.S. Air Force and Turkish personnel are working hand in hand to keep local citizens safe and to recover the aircraft,” said Col. Michael Rimsky, 39th Air Base Wing vice commander. “Our goal is to minimize the impact to our host nation partners while continuing to meet mission requirements.”

There were no civilian or military injuries. The U.S. military and Turkish officials have control of the aircraft. An investigation is underway to determine the specific cause of the crash,” the US Air Force said in another statement.

The real reasons behind the both incidents are stil unknown. The US is investigating into the issue.

The crashes took place amid the ongoing tensions between Turkey and the US over the American military assistance to Kurdish militais operating in northern Syria.

Erdogan is stupid. Instead of ally with Syria to prevent a kurdish state, he goes with USA. USA told him that she will not help kurdish militas. But, like he is stupid, he trusted USA. Now, Turkey is in big trouble. Soon, will come kurdish independance in Turkey.

Russell A Wilson

Turkey will leave NATO before it allows a Kurish state.

Serious

I don’t think so. Erdogan will try to postpone the creation of a kurdish state as long as he can. But, it will have the same consequence : a kurdish state will be created in Iraq first, then in Syria, then in Turkey, then in Iran.

Erdogan is also working with Iran to fight PKK in Iraq. So, Erdogan has done the opposite of what he should have done. Now, Turkey has big trouble and it will not stop.

Thta’s why I suggested that Syria should have give some lands for Kurds in northeast Syria before loosing more lands and to prevent USA to use Kurds to enter. Now, it’s excatly what happened.

Jan Tjarks

With the Kurds I’m still having my doubt’s, as there are several wealthy families who are fighting for their own interests mainly, not for a kurdish nation itself. Currently we do not see anything regarding this, as Daesh and Turkey both pose quite a threat. However, usually when the outside pressure is gone, the internal cracks will show up again. We will see if this happens or not, but intelligence from several nations suggest that this is likely, something Erdogan and Turkey abused a lot in the past anyway.

I do not know, time will tell

Over last two decades the US foreign policy in Balkans has been to use ethnic Albanian minorities to encroach across and politically grab traditional Slavic and Orthodox territories. Forcibly occupying Serbia’s former province of Kosovo, for over a decade supporting armed militant Albanian separatists in Macedonia, and more recently NATO’s controversial political ascent in Montenegro.
The same ethnicity based foreign policy underwrites US support for ethnic Kurds in middle east. To further encroach and politically at grab Syrian, Iraqi and ultimately Iranian territories. Where Kurds are ethnic minorities and useful for political and territorial breakaways, politically and financially, supported by US to establish further dependent client state-lets that only really operate as glorified US military bases.

Russell A Wilson

BS and I stand by my statement. Turkey Iran Iraq and Syria will work out the Kurdish question the best the Kurds could hope for is antonomous region but not state hood.

Serious

If USA doesn’t want what these countries will do ? XD.

USA doesn’t need Turkey no more. Now, they have kurds and have build military bases there.

Wahid Algiers

And a kurdish economy, Where do you see any economy. They have masses of donkey shit.

Vtran

Kurds are not friends of any of those country’s having attacked all those sovereign states …

Kurds only friends with U$ america and HATO country’s …. and with U$ america / HATO power in the region waning …. the Kurds only now realize they “backed the wrong side” …. Autonomous region is the Best they can hope for …. but not guaranteed !

Maybe better Kurds re-locate to Jordan, Saudi, U$ america, England etc who they share more in common !

Wahid Algiers

Kurds are acting like the zionists and they have the behaviour of jewish betrayers.

Vtran

Kurds have attacked the people of all those country’s !

Foolish, as those country’s control the Kurd’s future

It is Best the Kurds see refuge with those that they have served …. tho quite possible as the Kurds are no longer useful … they will find those refuges CLOSED !

FactNoFiction

The Turkish President has made his baldest statement to date about Kurdish Statehood:

“any attempt to carve out a Kurdish State will be met with a Nuclear Armed Republic of Turkey that will bow to no one. We will turn the entire Middle East into a grave yard before anything of this nature eventuates”

Then we heard that Turkey and Iran were making plans to invade Iraq in the event that the KRG declares independence.

Now when a small State says things like the above- they would only be laughed at. But this is a NATO country which has access to Pakistani nukes. It also would not take it long to enter into an alliance with North Korea. We already have seen it turn East towards Russia and China. We have also seen it purchase Russian S-400’s.

I don’t think Europe can imagine a nuclear armed Turkey on its door step. The US on the other hand is preoccupied with North Korea.

Thegr8rambino

in the past yes but recently he is allying with russia/iran/syria

Serious

Erdogan is not allying with Russia or Iran. It’s just that he can do nothing else. But, he will back stabb when he could.

Thegr8rambino

i dont think he can afford to. he really has no other countries/sides to turn to.

Serious

USA has all the time. Erdogan will go one day and that day the west will pressure Turkey. He didn’t play good.

Thegr8rambino

well he cant go back to USA/NATO because they already betrayed him, so if he betrays iran/russia/syria, he will be all alone

Serious

He has already betrayed Syria. So, now, he is alone. USA will create a kurdish state east of Turkey 100% sure.

Thegr8rambino

my ass

Serious

What an argument. XD.

Thegr8rambino

thanks :)))

santiago

Maybe in Iraq…… maybe and it is a long shot.

You are way too hopeful.

FactNoFiction

What Washington fails to realise is that attempts at Kurdish Statehood would unite the entirety of the Turkish people against the US. It is not just Erdogan that opposes the division of Iraq and Syria along sectarian and ethnic lines: every single Turkish political party (besides Kurdish parties) oppose this. They will back Erdogan to the end on this even if it means a large scale war.

Wahid Algiers

And? That won’ t be bad. Syria will get back the northern part, many kurds would die, the rest would learn and Turkey would have secured the borders. Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran together and I wonder if the yankees would assist the kurds.

FactNoFiction

No one said its a bad thing.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The US is running out of time , and are trying everything even asking a screwed up nation like Sweden to file charges against Erdogan who is fighting extremist terrorists known as the PKK who is largely responsible for thousands of deaths. The US has played horribly an have lost more allies than they can afford to, blame Obama for that. Turkey will come to their senses and realize the US still wants it’s division as it would be too large of an influence in NATO.

FactNoFiction

He has Pakistani nuclear technology to turn to. Pakistan has sold this technology to Turkey long before it sold it to the Iranians and Saudi’s.

Thegr8rambino

Lol pakistan seriously?

FactNoFiction

You do realise Pakistan is home to one of the world’s largest arsenals of nuclear warheads. http://thediplomat.com/2015/08/will-pakistan-soon-have-the-worlds-third-largest-nuclear-arsenal/

Thegr8rambino

why should they help turkey tho? i mean whats in it for them

FactNoFiction

The question is not why should they. According to Sibel Edmonds they have already helped Turkey a long time ago. Hence, why Turkey is able to display an assertive foreign policy of late with no ramifications.

Bru

Who painted ” John McCain ” on them?

Real Anti-Racist Action

lol

Nigel Maund

They should have tied him to one!! …..what a great opportunity lost! :((((

BL

Great News!

Russell A Wilson

These to crashes are going to feed the theory that a foriegn government is behind the crashes plus the USS John Mccain and USS Fitzgerald as the Americans can not be at fault.

chris chuba

There goes $8M. A drop in the bucket of the ‘overseas contingency budget’.

It looks like our military is starting to fall apart and money aint gonna help it. It’s a management problem. We are becoming like the Cold War Soviets. An excessively large military with too many moving parts.

Rob

America should have to leave Incirlik Air Base asap otherwise America will see some more disaster.

Thegr8rambino

they were tired of working for a failing empire and chose the easy way out lmao

Rob

US failed technology.

Solomon Krupacek

you are right no russian predator class UAV falled :)))

grumpy_carpenter

Someone’s hacked their satellite link like they did in Iran a few years back.

Hendrik

I would presume that Russia has some electronic equipment to interfere drones. Syria would be a perfect test scenario, as US drones would come rather close to Russian units. It seems that the equipment is working well.

chris chuba

Russia wouldn’t tip their hand by doing something so trivial in a situation like this. It would allow the U.S. to develop counter-measures just to achieve a little mischief. It’s not worth it.

cortisol

There is high doubt whether stupid LGBT yankees can even develop anything on their own anymore. They can’t even design a simple and cost effective fighter plane (F-35).

grumpy_carpenter

Someone’s hacking their satellite link. The iranians claimed they hacked the RQ-170 that went down in Iran in 2011 and they did it with Russian help. The USA denied this of course. Now someone in the Syria region is messing with their heads bringing down predators. Most cutting edge ‘wunderwaffen’ only keep their edge for a few years until someone figures out a solution to them and drones are no exception

FactNoFiction

Google “Aselsan Koral EW system”.

ColinNZ

It would appear that in addition to the usefulness of Russia performing combat testing of her Aerospace forces and associated missiles and equipment in the Syrian theater, with 2 US MQ-1 predator drones crashing nearby and 2 US Navy missile-destroyers colliding in the Asia-pacific I am starting to suspect that her electronic warfare capabilities have also recently been dusted off for further testing.

Vtran

It could be that the “Navy” crew were stoned ,,,, but it is nice to thing EW in progress !

Cheryl Brandon

Great; I want to see USA drone destroyed! I want more; USA=The International Pirate/Robber/Outlaw! They are a hindrance to world peace.

Vitex

Why are the gents working on the wreckage wearing hazmat suits? Was this drone about to perpetrate another false-flag chemical attack somewhere in Idlib? Or is Jet A1 more toxic than I thought

Vtran

Good comment ….. though U$ Americans will say the Hazmat suits were to protect against the “suns heat” !

Vitex

Let’s say that the Russians had intel about another chemical attack in Idlib… might just be motivation for them to target these drones with Khibiny or similar. Then again, the USAF is quite capable of cocking things up on their own…..

Vtran

Both are equally plausible … but lets opt for the former as their is a No Fly Zone in place

Rob

So intelligent point.

Real Anti-Racist Action

So obviously either Russia or Iran or Hezbollah or ISIS is using electronic warfare against them haha.

Lars

Turks as well.

NN

Boats that sink, planes thst do not fly and drones that crash….Bravo!
