On August 12, two Syriac fighters of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were killed when the Turkish military shelled the town of Tell Tamer and a number of nearby villages in the northern countryside of Syria’s al-Hasakah.
The fighters were members of the SDF’s Syriac Military Council, which is mainly active in the densely populated Assyrian areas of al-Hasakah.
The SDF’s losses from Turkey’s never ending attacks on northeastern Syria have been mounting. On August 9, four fighters of the group were killed in a Turkish drone strike that targeted their vehicle inside town of al-Qamishli in the northern countryside of al-Hasakah. Later on August 10, two more fighters were killed when a drone strike hit their vehicle near the town of Mala Sbat to the west of al-Qamishli.
On August 11, the announced that it had carried out a series of attacks against the Turkish military in response to recent artillery and drone strikes. The attacks, which targeted armored vehicles, took place along the border line with the Turkish city of Mardin. The SDF claimed that 23 Turkish service members were killed. However, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense has not acknowledged any losses, so far.
The Turkish military and its proxies have been reportedly preparing to launch a new operation against the SDF for nearly two months now. Yet, the recent artillery and drone strikes indicate that Ankara may have settled for limited military measures against the group. These measures are without a doubt inflicting some losses on the SDF.
I heard something about the Turks making a deal with Russia. Maybe the Turks can buy some of that high octane Russian artillery and bomb the Kurds til they’re a pile of Turds.
