Turkistan Terrorists In Northern Syrian Showcase Heavy Rocket In New Propaganda Video

The al-Qaeda-affiliated Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) released a new propaganda video titled “Reasons for Victory” on May 14, threating Russia and showcasing its troops in northwestern Syria.

The video included footage of what appears to be a heavy improvised rocket-assisted munition (IRAM) being loaded into a launch pad in an unspecified location.

A screenshot of the IRAM shows that its body is made from two large-caliber steel pipes joined together with bolts and poor welding. The IRAM’s fins appear to be too weak to the point where each one is supported with two steel roads on both sides.

The IRAM’s rocket booster was also covered in the TIP’s propaganda video, that didn’t show any footage of the actual launch.

The TIP, which has more than 3,000 Uyghurs fighters, is occupying many towns and villages in northwestern Idlib and northern Lattakia. The terrorist group is one of the few close allies of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

Free Syrian Army (FSA) groups in southern Syria successfully produced heavy IRAMs priors their final defeat in 2018. However, their IRAMs were effectiveness due to their very short range and poor accuracy.

The TIP showcased its supposed heavy IRAM to raise the morale of its supporters and intimidate its foes. However, the available footage indicate that the IRAM is poorly-designed, or even a fake prop.
